ARB Fridge/Freezer

Any chance you or anyone else out there running with the Dometic fridge could post up a pic showing how the cord plugs in to a power supply? Is it a cigarette lighter style plug? Also love to see your solar setup pieces!

You get two cords, a 110v for home and a 12v cigarette lighter. I will try to send pictures when I get home.

Thanks. If its a bother don't sweat it. I thought that's how it worked but wasn't sure.
Hmmm. So the ARB uses a dedicated plug with heavy gauge wires run straight to the battery but the Dometic uses a plain ole cigarette lighter? If Dometic does in fact make the fridges for ARB, and I don't know that for a fact but it would make sense, wonder why the difference?

I don’t know if Waeco/Dometic makes the ARB fridge either. But I do know they use similar parts like compressors, they both use Dan-Foss. I will say that Dometic prices have gone up since I purchased my 65L 2 or 3 years ago for $700.

I recently got an ARB. It came with a cord that can plug into a standard “cigarette” lighter outlet. Also a separate cord for a standard AC outlet.

The ARB has the standard cigarette lighter plug, but the end unscrews and reveals the ARB 12v mounting plug when you install their heavy gage aux power source. The plug then screws into the new 12v outlet and won’t work it’s way out on the trails. It’s also 14 gauge wire leading from you power switch of choice. Better than the OEM lighter outlet.

Just ordered a Dometic CFX35W with slide, bag, and monitor. Hope it works the way I want as I've been busting my head for months on wether or not to pull the trigger. 😳

Nice fridge. If I didn't already have 2 ARB's, I might have picked one of these up. Looking forward to hearing what you think about it.

Sweet! We’ll have to see how it performs on the trail. [emoji16][emoji482]
Definitely! 🍻

Thanks. I'm sure I'll post a review once I run it awhile. I know it's on the smaller side, but I was looking for something that I could run under my tonneau cover.

I figured it should be big enough for 2-3 days for two people, but I also plan to use it daily in my work van so it'll get a good workout for sure. 😎

What are ya'll thoughts on fridge slides? I use 2 cargo straps going to the tie downs in the floor. I don't want to keep the fridge in the back 24/7 as sometimes I need the cargo space. I have the ARB specific tie downs, which look great, but no real way to use them with the floor tie down rings.

I'll tell you better when I actually receive mine, but I'll say I wanted it so I wouldn't have to take my tonneau cover off every time I want to reach in the fridge. 😎

My plan is to either make a base that's easily removable to mount the side on or bolt the slide directly to the floor with thumbscrews or something that will also be easy to remove. My final decision will be based on actual measurements once I receive everything.

These are exactly my concerns before ordering as well. Please keep us in the loop!

Think like since you already run it in a fixed position you know what it like to reach into the upper part .. now just imagine not having to reach in after things because you can bring them to you ....personally I like the slides I went with the dometic version over the arb simply as it was less than 1/2 the cost .. then mounted on the black forest mount (which mounts to the existing tie downs) makes things nice an neat .. all for convenience

Thing about slides is, even with the fridge removed, you still have a pretty big contraption taking up cargo space. Need to figure a way to have it secure but also easily removable.

Can you post pics of your black forest mount and slides with the fridge pulled out so I can see how the floor looks?

That’s a cool ass setup! My Jeep is like polar opposite of a build, as I run topless most the year. Do you have some more pics of your setup?

These are the only pics I have in my phone, but I could get any that you would like when I am home in about a week. The first one shows the power circuit and the other shows the the AC and solar connections on the back of the license plate mount.

I don’t have any pics of my solar setup, but I can get some next time I’m home. The Dometic comes with the same plug as the ARB. It is a normal cigarette lighter plug the unscrews to become a threaded plug that does work with the ARB DC receptacle, which is what I used. It is much more secure than the regular cigarette plug.
