6.4-liter V-8 JL Wrangler Rubicon 392 - How much would you be willing to spend?

Of course, the factory warranty will only cover factory parts. This is still good being that the engine and transmission will be covered and shouldn't have any problems but if you decide to run bigger tires, you'll most likely need to replace the factory Dana 44s, drive lines and maybe even transfer case.

That's how I started breaking it down. I would end up swapping axles and building it up to match what I have now. So, add another 30k putting me close to a 100k in a 392.

I really dug down deep and looked into the 392 option before I pulled the trigger on the new 60s and felt it was a better option to keep the JK since its paid off.

I can do a V8 swap in the next couple years and still have less into it than a 392 plus add-ons.

Oh yeah, I am in no ways suggesting that getting a 392 from the factory is a bad thing. It just needs to be see with eyes wide open. Hell, I want one. As far as MoTech goes, they have an LT in their JL now but it is my understanding that they will not be pursuing a kit for it. Or at least, not at this time and specifically because of the 392.
That's a bummer for MoTech, but I guess they have to do what makes business sense. I'm strongly considering shifting gears on my Jeep/build plans for a few years until I can get a 392 in a JL or maybe a JT, then just go all in then.

Being your Jeep is paid off, your plan the absolute right move in my opinion.

I think I would rather take the almost $80k I don’t have and buy a base model JT then buy tons and v8 swap. More fun to build it IMO and I think it could be done better for the same $. I’m too hung over to do the math right now but it seems pretty close.

Someone here needs to step up, buy one, build it quickly, and post the price so the rest of us can make an informed decision. And lots of photos.

Yikes! I may have spoke too soon! So $33,000 for a JT sport. $35,000 for V8 swap then another $20,000 for tons/40’s hmmmm. Maybe it’s not so bad. Still out of my budget though.

Looks like you can build a hemi wrangler on the jeep site now. Base is ~$75k. Drive train is definitely different, full time AWD with selectable part, hinge point in front axle. My understanding is the full time configuration is to keep the drive train from grenading under the hemi...

What are people's thoughts on off road ability after these differences? Will it be better than current v6 setup?

Will the modifications be weaker and more troublesome on the trail?

Do you think it could turn 37s stock without blowing up? Figure it would need trimming and a bigger lift than the 2 inch stock but again, worried the drive train couldn't handle them.

I plan on waiting to see how the first generation performs but curious what people's predictions are.

I’ll find out over the next couple months as we build one. A friend of mines is built and shipped. He’s hopeful that it will be at the dealership next week. The plan is a small spacer lift and 37s with the rubicon flares. The list on it was $77 with the power top and pretty well loaded. As soon as he has it, he’s bringing it here for a test run, I’ll post up what we find out.

If I could guess, it'll most likely have power pulled out of it in specific situations that would otherwise destroy the drive train. They've done something similar on the diesel but in regards to towing and to prevent overheating. So, I'll bet it could handle 37's. That being said, it would have been nicer if they just beefed the the axles and drive shafts but of course, that would have made the 392 a six figure Wrangler.

Where the hell is Brute? :idontknow:

So...it looks like the French may be abandoning the SRT division, which means no 392 in a JT (bummer). I am now leaning towards getting a 392 JL (most likely pre-owned) and going with an earlier idea to build it out as a two door truck...similar to Sandstorm.

Even if they don't abandon SRT (most likely will), I don't think there was ever any plans for a 392 in a JT. The 392 Wrangler was intended to be a Bronco fighter.

Well, the Bronco still only has a 2.7 EcoBoost...I was really hoping they were also going to build a Raptor slayer...sigh...

For now until Warthog edition. Wider flares, 37's, Raptor inspired suspension, possibly a V8

You'd think they'd pick names that went along with the Bronco name? Bronco Sasquatch, Bronco Warthog
