ANOTHER WINDSHIELD Bites the Dust - What Number are You On?

Almost $570 just for parts?! That would hurt big time! Last time I did mine it was $250 total and they came to me. The next time I may just do it myself given the way prices are heading!
Glass work sucks. I worked at a glass shop previously years ago. To do it right, I have no idea what tools cost now to do it correctly. But yes parts prices have gone nuts. Glass insurance is a wise investment IMO.

replaced the JL glass 3 months ago, $250 out of pocket for a non-oem windshield

It already has many tiny chips on the glass, I'm thinking factory glass has a better outer coating.

Didn't get this level of chips in the original until the crack spread across the windshield.

Since this is my first Jeep I've had to replace it zero times but I think I'm due for my first one . What do you guys think of the windshield protection film do you think it works?

Both on road, on the highway to be more specific. Our Gladiator was the day we picked it up from the dealer with less than 100 miles on the odometer.

The 392 has Gorilla Glass, with any luck 🍀 it will last a long time.

According to safelite, the gorilla glass is thicker than aftermarket glass, but cracks easier because it is thicker. Im not sure how I feel about that. I had lots decent sized rocks hit it at over 90mph and just leave little chips, but I was going only 50mph when the boulder hit.

Well, this is #1 for our 392. We actually had a few rock strikes but none were big enough to really matter. And then, winter hit and our defroster allowed one to blossom.

So, I should note for this Jeep, we paid the $600 windshield insurance which is through Permaplate and they sent out Safelite to evaluate whether or not it could be fixed. But, being that this crack was larger than what a dollar bill could cover, they determined the windshield needed to be replaced.

Being that we have forward collision sensors, there is an added service that is required for calibration of it. Fortunately, this is covered as well.

Now, this insurance won’t cover busted windshields forever, maybe 3 in total but I’ll tell you, just getting this one replaced has made the $600 worth it 👍🏻

Safelite in Las Vegas refused to do the windshield on my van. The guy that came out said I would have to remove the lift before they could work on it for liability reasons. An independent shop in Green Valley Arizona had no problem doing it.

Sensors aren't attached to the windshield. Recalibration isn't necessary, if it was, then every time you laid the windshield down, strapped it, and drove, you'd have to get the service.

Now, if the impact happened right in front of the sensor box and it was heavy, then yes there's a possibility things may have rattled.

For adaptive cruise control, you are correct but there are a couple of sensors on the top edge of the windshield that are attached to it. I just saw them. I’ll see if I can get a pic when the guy is done.
