Thanks! I bet your '78 Cherokee was a memorable Jeep! Will definitely keep this thread going as long as I can or until I run out of money! Hehehe.I am really excited to see this build! I had the near exact same Jeep as my first bought vehicle. It was a 1978 with the 360. Same color and Levi Edition. What an awesome project Tony!! Keep those pictures coming!!
Still trying to figure out which end of the wrench to use.is it done yet ? I think it belongs on the old iron trail ride. Close enough !
It's making me question all my life choices, which is always a good time. The Jeep currently lives at my mom's house in Apple Valley...Looks like a fun project. You're in Apple Valley now?
I replaced the turn signal switch on my CJ-5 several times. They seemed to be made from really weak plastic, and I must have bumped the turn signal lever on the

Yeah my dad was the same and it was hard for me to break myself of that habit. I like parking in the garage...haha.Haha
Your dad is my type of peeps.
“Might use that one day!!”
You're going to need a bigger garage! It was not just jeep parts he was bad at collecting. lol Good thing is he makes the rest of us seem reasonable.
Janky trailer wiring most likelyHey all,
While going through my dad’s old Jeep parts stash, I found two spare taillight assemblies with 1157 taillight bulbs that each have a 2-wire pigtail attached. At first I thought they were for trailer lights, but when I pulled the taillights off my ’77 Cherokee Chief, I realized it has the same setup — pigtail bulbs wired into the housing, with the harness tucked inside the assembly.
Has anyone seen this before? Was this a common workaround for bad sockets, or some aftermarket solution from back in the day? Hard to believe this came from the factory.

That makes perfect sense! The Jeep was never flat towed while my dad owned it but maybe the previous owner had planned to flat tow it at some point. Really appreciate the info — I'm calling this mystery solved! I'll sleep good tonight.was it flat towed?
Use to see that as a flat tow solution to wire the tow vehicle to the vehicle being towed, easy way to have brake and taillights.
Run a couple of wires down each side of the towed vehicle and plug them in
