Factory Jeep recommend tire pressure is way higher than needed for safe operation on most tires. They do this for fuel efficiency reasons and their EPA compliance requirements.

Also a lot of the oversized tires are 8-10 ply rated truck tires and usually have a stiffer sidewall.

letting a little air out will allow them to absorb more shock.
So would having a softer sidewall kind of fix the problem? I have a sidewall rating E.
 
Also thinking of getting:

Adjustable control arms
Front/Rear track bars
Steering tie rod/drag link/steering stabilizer
Control arm drop brackets

hopefully this will fix some geometry due to the lift which made it un drivable🤣

JLR's come with 6 ply rated tires equivalent to a load range "C"

An "E" is a 10 ply rated tire similar to what would come on a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck.

Nothing wrong with the 10 ply tires but they are significantly stiffer and will ride harshly if you air them up to what the sticker inside your door jamb says. Like I said earlier the factory recommendation is based on a balance between fuel mileage, safety, and comfort for the type and size tire that it came with. Most manufactures, especially for SUV's, put very little consideration into the comfort aspect these days due to the Ford Explorer rollover issue that was blamed on firestone tires but the biggest issue was under inflated tires.

Do you have the TPMS in your jeep? Set it as your primary viewing screen in the dash and play around with air pressure to see if it makes a difference in the ride, my guess is somewhere between 25-30 PSI. You will notice the air pressure will increase from a cold tire by several pounds after a few miles of driving so the goal is to figure out a cold temperature that goes up to the pressure you want to run on the highway.

Some people recommend doing a chalk test to figure out the best air pressure, there's probably a few threads on here discussing that tactic.

Pressure adjustment is a free experiment that isn't a permanent change to the suspension.
 
What else would you upgrade once a lift kit is installed?
If you move to a 2-2.5" lift you shouldn't need any of those other parts.

Judging from this list, it would be cheaper to change out the lift and get something like the Synergy or Rancho 2" starter lift if you still have the factory shocks - the Rancho kit includes shocks

Seeing that you stay on the pavement, I agree with Jeeeep and stick to a shorter lift.

What else would you upgrade once a lift kit is installed?

If you stick to a 4" lift, you need to look into a drag link flip too. I would stay lower and sort out the issues first.

I do take it off road and hit the rocks.....in fact the factory bumpers were replaced after the maiden voyage trip (10 days in to ownership) to do a shake down run after the new tires and lift.....

Come on FAN BOYS do not be such haters - I mean you don't have to be douchey all the time!! Is it because I have an XJ too?

I live by the break it - upgrade it motto - so what better excuse to ditch the factory junk bumper...and all upgrades only cost $200 (as far as my wife knows).
