You are correct... I was only able to model varying forces that are applied constant.
No I can't... I would have to redraw the plates and bolts with an assumed deformation to remodel... It takes too long :yup:
But you are right... any deformation of the plate and/or bolt has drastic effects to the strength

Jay- I think you had a typo- the bolts supplied with the Olympus are NOT 5/8", they are 3/8".
The ones supplied with the evo d ring mounts are 1/2".

Well, that only makes things worse, much worse, but I'm not planning to redo the model :grayno: I took the "5/8" hex head bolts" as that was the bolt size not the head :crazyeyes:

I don't normally get into this stuff, but this one just got me. The product just looks dangerous to me so....
I read the thread, and so you say, EVO is better. Is it twice as good? Perhaps that is why it costs more. You know what costs half as much as a dollar? 50 cents.
Then please, by all means go put it through the tests. Get stuck, and use these D rings. Do it a few times. In different scenarios. Post results.
So your alternative is a product that cost less because it is not as good. Gotcha. That is quite the alternative. Sometimes when I want a steak, I think well what the hell, I can have a piece of shit formed into a steak shape for half the price. That sounds awesome.
No one said WILL. But watch some videos of bad recoveries, and certainly COULD is true.

Full thread 3/8" bolts should have a bearing connection shear resistance of something around 29000 lbf. My guess is that these bolts would give up when the plate bends prior to frame pull through. But like I said, I don't plan to bother with modeling it again.... :yawn37:

Just saw that they list 5/8" on their website, lol, 5/8" bolt won't fit thru the frame rail holes without drilling the holes out bigger.
