This forum... bunch of sticks up yalls asses... and shit that doesn't stink!

Funny, you still seem to be missing the point :idontknow:

But why is he in this particular thread what the point I was trying to make that was lost on you...

Because you're making a lot of noise in my house and I wanted to know why. Now that I know there's no good reason for it, I'm trying to figure out why you're still here. :naw:

Log off, go bury your Jeep axles deep in some of that Texas mud of yours, and have one of your buddies with a big ol' diesel rig yank you out at about a 120 degree angle. Rinse, repeat. After about the third or fourth time start taking some video. Tell your buddy to keep his hood up though, and make sure to put a really heavy blanket midway on the snatch strap.

Post up the video when you are done.

You mean to say that something bad could happen? Impossible! :cheesy:

I'll give it a shot at spelling it out for you. What you have looks unsafe. WOL probably doesn't want people promoting unsafe products. Case and point TERAFLEX tire carrier. http://wayalife.com/showthread.php?4740-TeraFlex-Hinged-Tire-Carrier-Break

Thank you.

To be a little more accurate, I called you a dickweed because of the way you are responding to people giving you their 2 cents, which it still is even if you don't like the 2 cents that was handed out... dickweed.

The product IS poorly designed ESPECIALLY in comparison to the product that you are posting it up as an alternative to... dickweed

I have personally in real life with my own two eyes seen snap-back off of both wire cable and synthetic rope and it's fucking NASTY. Whether you want to believe it or not it is a real threat to human life. So, yes, I will step up and say whatever I can to prevent the people of this community from experiencing the results of a cable or a rope with unreal amounts of force applied to it coming loose with a pound of metal attached to the end of it... dickweed.

Better yet, if you're so damn confident in the product, no blanket and make sure you stand next to the truck while he tries to pull your rig out. Judging by your thin skin and your knee jerk reaction to opposition of an idea of yours that'll be one less democratic vote in Texas.

Dude, you freaked out about this instantly.

1. You offered this product as an alternative for half the price. Do you believe the quality is equal?

2. Would you actually trust this product for a real recovery?

3. Do you think that perhaps that this product is half the price because it is for looks only and using these mounts for a real recovery would be dangerous?

Be honest. Then decide if you got overly defensive. Does this product actually compare? If not, what on earth are you arguing?

HAHA... when your shorts match the height of your bumper, maybe you shouldnt post, superman pose...

I'd love to be there dickweed. Give me a rain check for a couple of months while I get my feet back under me from this battle with cancer (that I likely got from serving the country that snot nosed dickweeds like you are ruining) that I just finished up. I'd hate to stomp your lilly ass right now in front of all of your friends, it'd be adding insult to injury.

As far as testing out the theory on your shackle mounts, no thanks dickweed, I'm not an idiot and it isn't a theory. I will repeat it for you. I have seen in really real life, not some video or pictures on the Internet, with my own two eyes what happens when a mount point fails under tension. I don't need to see it on your Jeep to know what happens and I don't wanna be the guy holding a chunk of your skull in place while we try to get you help. I'm over all that nonsense.

Not a single person here is an Internet bully, though you soft boned liberal types think they are just taking over the interwebs. We just truly view this forum as a Jeep family and don't like when some intruder first comes in recommending unsafe (whether you believe it or not) parts to people that we really care about, and then starts running their mouth when an opposing opinion is given to their miracle solution.

I wish food wasn't so damned easy to get these days... Survival of the fittest would have all this sorted out in no time.

I dont think this guy has taken any engineering or upper level any courses in his life Hell Low level physics talking about pressures would tell you that this is not a safe product!! To think that those shackles are safe to pull on is scary and shows me how dumb people are getting in this country...

Also you :asshat: no one bashed you till you got butthurt about people saying it isnt safe... Once you retaliated then we bashed you. Everyones comments before you lashed back were civil and just :twocents: ... Your response however was the first dickish comment so we responded in kind.

As one of the younger ones on this forum it really scares me to see you "Adults" (and I mean this guy and the others that come on to cause problems) act sooo 4 years old? "Mommy he said my jeep could kill someone make him stop!! Hes internet bullying me cus I lashed back first and I am an idiot with no life" Dude grow up youre a disgrace.

I ran some quick calculations and modeled this...

The two 5/8" bolts have a single shear load of approximately 39,900 lbf while this seems like more than enough there are several deratings that have to be accounted for. First the nuts are welded into place on the plate. This can potentially cause a small gap and reduce the shear and bearing load. Even a small gap of 0.004" would reduce the load to under 30000 lbf. None-the-less, let's assume the mounting bolts are okay for now.

The next consideration would be the materials being bolted together. The Olympic plate is actually a sufficient thickness due to a weaker material being the frame itself. While hole deformation occurred, the frame material thickness appeared to be up to the task of a 30000 lbf load when applied in line. (I was surprised)

Here is where it all went to hell, I moved the load to 30 degrees toward the center of the vehicle. The new tensile load reduced the bolt shear to below 20000 lbf, severe tab and frame bending occurred. Bolt pull through was modeled at just over 16000 lbf.

Now, I admit I made some assumptions on material and bolt grades, but these numbers are far too close for my liking. I have seen straps rated for 20000 pounds snap like a piece of yarn when doing a mud recoveries. No way I trust the Olympic mount.

What I find very intersting is that of all of your 22 posts is to bicker about someone's opinion on your opinion and then getting all butthurt about it. As previously mentioned earlier you spent you morney on what you thought was a great product then offered it up on a thread that has not been posted on since April of 2014. So why are you posting an alternative to a product instead of starting a new thread? This question has been asked but no answer.

As for internet bullying there is a difference of what you are claiming and what is reality. Reality is you posted an inferior product as an alternative on an old forum, what did you expect to happen that we would bow down to the great and all knowing LanceM? Wrong. As far as I am concerned your opinion is just that your opinion and you can take it somewhere else. Haver you ever heard of the saying throwing gas on a fire? Well the more you post the more gas you throw on the fire and if have not figured out there is not a fire department section of the forum.

Do us all a favor and go back where you came from or become a contributing member without an agenda. Any for future reference it is Canvas JK not Can just like it is Wayoflife not Way.

I agree this guy is an idiot and should leave. But I must respectfully disagree that it is cause of a Liberal view point that he has thin skin and is an idiot.

Hes simply just an idiot. Lack of education is what it comes down to.

I'm sure that these numbers are for constant holding pressure like static vs dynamic or however you engineers differentiate the two . The numbers for the amount of force applied to the mount point if there was a yank or the jeep rolled off of a rock and was caught by this point or something along those lines would be astronomically higher than that.

Honestly, my reply was more for others that might not know or understand why many feel this product is inferior. I could care less if he understands or gets it.... :yup:

Nice work! Can you model in a second pull? Or a third? That's the problem with a substandard recovery point like this. It may work the first time under very specific circumstances, giving the user a false sense of security. But what happens on the next pull when the bolts have been partially pull through the frame, the tab has been weakened, and the bolt welds have rusted out a bit? Again, this set up is flat-assed scary.
