I took these pics as we slid past another volcano on the way back to Anchorage...you could smell the sulfur dioxide in the plane

I saw him in the shallows near the bank; at first my heart jumped thru my chest thinking I just saw Godzilla Bow...then I realized it was a pike; I made a perfect cast just in front of him, bumped his nose with the streamer...he opened his mouth and I hooked him in the end of his upper jaw. He was our dinner that night.

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good...

We both in our lives need to make a run to Mongolia for Taiman. Those are the Godzilla of the trout would!

Assuming camera man was also holding the 44 with the other hand ? That looks dicey haha

None of the guides pack guns...however one of the anglers surprised a sow with two cubs...she charged him; he dropped his rod in the stream and pulled out the bear spray, safety off. She stopped about twenty feet away, woofed a couple times, then turned around and went through the bush. This guy has been fishing Alaska over twenty-five years and seen a lot of bears...good thing he kept his cool and didn’t turn and run.

It happened on the Little Ku River, where it’s tight with lots of bushes and trees lining the river...I saw a lot of bears there...
