Show Off Your Guns!

Daughter asked me about something for home protection since she's in the house alone.

She's been to the gun range with me, 9mm handguns, but I'm thinking a shotgun might be a better choice.

Recommendations?
What does your daughter prefer? A 12 gauge kicks hard.

I prefer a 9mm handgun and an AR for a longarm fire home defense. My wife likes her 9mm handgun.

ARs are easier on the shoulder and the manual of arms is simpler than a shotgun.

Again, the best choice for your daughter is up to her. Continue taking her out to shoot different firearms until she finds something she likes and will practice with.

I was thinking something she could point, not necessarily have to focus on aiming but hadn't considered the kick.

We talked a bit and I recommended she signup for a self-defense course with a female instructor at the local range, felt that would be a better option for many reasons but also to reduce both our anxiety levels, she agreed.

You could always just get her a 22 pistol w/ 10+ rounds. No kick, easy to aim and hit. When you consider that most ppl die each year from a 22 round it's not a bad option.

You would feel anxious if she had a male instructor at the range?
