PSC hydro steering for the 392

has anyone done this kit yet, looking to go to 38’s, and i am thinking about the kit that mounts to the electric steering set up- has anyone done this yet, feedback?

Ill probably put RCV axles in the front while its in there too
That system definitely needs some help. My sons 392 on 37s is constantly overheating. A buddy rented a 3.6 on 38s in Moab and we regularly had to stop because the power steering was overheating. My son is also looking at going with the PSC system.

I’ve only done the kits with the belt driven pump and they have all been great with no issues. I’d go that route unless you really want to keep the electric pump.

I think their in house electric “boosted” pump was more so to address the 4XE, ETorque and Diesel models as you would have to use the APEX boost kit as the only option.

They actually have a kit that works with your electric steering, and converts to hydro without adding he belt/ power steering pump

I was interested in in trying that first, knowing i can add the pump later.

John Currie is running this on his and it been fine so far, and they use their stuff pretty hard.

Yeah I know they offer both, I was more so saying I prefer the belt driven pump over the electric pump if I had to choose.

thanks, and that’s what i wanna hear, it the EHPS really that scary, I don’t wanna be penny cheap and pound foolish on this build. John Currie was really complimentary of that electric set up, but I would love to hear from shops that have experienced this

I don’t have any personal experience with ANY of the JL systems but have wheeled with enough to see than when they fail, it’s a major drama. That being said regardless of which motor it’s attached to, if you’re serious about wheeling and you’re going to be on anything bigger than a 35 and you’re already looking to go with some kind of hydro assist then I’d just bite the bullet and go with the full hydraulic system. That electric pump causes some weird issues when it over heats and if you loose your power steering at all, it’s gonna be a rough day.
I don’t know how durable the electric pumps are but I wouldn’t chance it. You’ve already spent $90k on a jeep, just do it right and be worry free.
