38X12.50R17 NITTO Ridge Grapplers

New shoes for Jet! Awesome! I've never been a 38 kinda guy but now I'm eager to see how they work out. Great idea to give the Ridge Grapplers a spin too... Literally lol

I’m really interested to see what you think of these when playing in your backyard. You’ve tested every other Nitto as well as other brands and I’d trust your real world experience than just a review of tread style and appearance.

I think the ridges are amazing tires. I ran them after I saw Mel’s videos of him rocking them in Alaska. These 38s are the perfect size imo. Hopefully they take off. FEE8DF8E-A11B-4E68-8879-C5CDAA744193.jpeg

Great looking tire indeed. Will wait till Eddie is done testing them and provides his opinion. Interested to know how they perform off road.
I do like the side wall biters side better.

KM3's are decent tires and I would run them. However, from what I've seen Ridge Grapplers are what I would choose to run even if I had to buy them. They're quite on the highway, seem to wear nicely, have long tread life and do well off road. I can't count how many times I'd seen Synergy climb things they really shouldn’t have been able to with a set.
Oh man ain’t that the truth. Watching Dave do what he did with the ridge grapplers is what had me looking at them in the first place. Certainly going to be looking into a set no doubt.

Oh ya. Im coming due for some new shoes and was debating whether to stick with 37’s or move up to 38’s. Bfg is my usual pick but hard to find nowadays. Looks like a good time to try nitto. 😁

About a month ago, I started a thread/poll regarding 38" tires and asked what you all thought about them. I wanted to know if you would make the 1" jump when it came time to replace what you have now and according to the votes, the winner was in fact a YES! Albeit, by a small margin but more of you did say that you would make the jump but only if the manufacturer and/or model of the tire was something that you liked.

Well, I'm happy to announce that Nitto is finally giving you what you've been wanting, a Ridge Grappler in a 38x12.50R17. The 17" wheel size is important to note being that they already had a 38" available for a 20" wheel. That means this tire size is now available to most everyone and without having to get new wheels! And, as reluctant as I have been in the past to run a set of 38's, I am happy and eager to give them a try, especially being that they're made by Nitto.

Needless to say, ours just came in today and here's what they look like.

Love the nice deep voids especially being that this crossover tire is more of an all terrain than a mud terrain.

Of course, they still come with 2 different shoulder lug designs - their new aggressive lugs on the left and traditional block style on the right.

Of course, these are going to be mounted on JET!

To be fair, the 37" Trail Grapplers on JET are worn down a bit but far from bald and they are mounted on a wheel. With that said, here are a few side by side shots of what the new 38's look like next to them.

There's no denying it - the 38's are visibly bigger.

We're hoping to get these new Ridge Grapplers installed as soon as we can. The only thing holding us up is a new set of KMC beadlock wheels of which we ORDERED through Off Road Evolution and hope to pick up next week. So, it'll be soon.

And FULL DISCLOSURE - YES, our good friends at Nitto did send these to us free of charge. Nitto is a company that we've worked with for well over a decade and we're thrilled to help test and promote these new tires for them.

With that said, I'd love to hear what you think of these new 38" Ridge Grapplers!
So, what is your thoughts on mounting these on a Dynatrac Prorock 44 front axle with 4.88 gears and RCV axle shafts? My rear axle is a Prorock 60.

The ridge grappler is an amazing tire! Does Nitto plan on releasing these in a 38x13.50R18?

Look good, interesting profile mixed and yet chunky, remind me of the Cooper STMaxx. Was really happy with those (smaller size 33) so i guess these would run somewhere along the same line. Have to check if I can get them in Europe for a "normal " price. (I'm wary in the mud though especially the thick sticky clay we get around here when it rains hard)
