Roof Rack + Snorkel = Overland?

BEST statement yet. And one that has been stated MANY, MANY times in this thread and nearly every thread.

I have a completely bone stock '12 JKUR. Do I think Wayolife (WOL) thinks any less of me because of it. NO. In fact, he is super cool, simply because I've shared my experiences and love of this "wayalife." I've been lucky enough to also meet him in person and even go on a scenic drive, bringing my whole family along, and enjoying a nice meal afterwards with about 25 others. We realize we are more than just mod lists, we're jeepers and a community.:yup:

"we are all living the same wayalife." WOL

Well said brother!

I believe you are one of the few that is really trying to make this a constructive conversation.

But his definition of overlanding was covered on the very first page of this thread a long time ago. Everyone is being constructive in the conversation dept. We just don't feel the need for churched up lingo and definitions for something we do everyday ;)

I happen to like it being churched up.

Its like saying whats better about an FJ in this forum. Your gonna get crap results. You go to an fj forum and ask what makes jeeps better, your going to get crap results. Of course, majority rules, and the guy with the biggest jeep and coolest pictures is going to get the most cheerleaders and win.

Have this argument in an overland/expedition based forum with lets say, Scott Brady and your gonna get shut down for the fact that, over there, like here, majority rules and he has to what they see over there is the most experience in that field.

But I do consider my self an overlander, a 4 wheeler, explorer adventurer. a 24 year old Jeep lover who loves to explore and off road the backcountry.I enjoy working on my jeep and modifying it to me needs. I like coming on this forum as well as others because there is awesome information here. Eddie makes awesome videos and good right ups. Also this forum and JK-Forum are the best options for info on my jeep. Some might call it overlanding, some might call it wheeling, and some might call it exploring. It is what it is. If you go by the book, yes there is a definition of it and whats considered overland. But everyone has their own opinions.

Is there a way to officially kill a thread so that it can't be resurrected? 😵😲😵😲😵😲😵😲

Now that would be like the end of Seinfeld. I'm sure we could find it in syndication, because it was so great the first time around. 😄👍

I just find it amusing some posts being so serious. It's been said we are all cool with everything at WAL. Been then some need to feel extra special and call out points and state "facts" as if we don't know. The issue was put to bed then another "final word."

I think on page 25, someone said the thread that never ends.......some 30 pages ago. 💤💤💤

I just want to make sure there is no discrimination against us underlanders.

Sorry, the tires you're running are too small to be an efficient underlander. Clearly, the only purpose for running them is to make it easier for you to scoot around in places with very low ceilings. :cheesy:

So, what you're saying is that the people here are incapable of thinking for themselves and ignorantly cheer on superficialities. Nice :thumb:

:cheesy: You assume that guys like me would even care to go to a self-proclaimed genre specific forum with definitions and guidelines and try to convince anyone there of anything. To be clear, I'm not even trying to convince guys like you of anything.

But I do consider my self an overlander, a 4 wheeler, explorer adventurer. a 24 year old Jeep lover who loves to explore and off road the backcountry.I enjoy working on my jeep and modifying it to me needs.

Well, I don't know if I consider myself to be much of anything other than being a lot older than 24 but, I do love to explore and off road the back country and work on my Jeep and modifiy it to my needs too. Funny how in spite of it, self-proclaimed overlanders will continue to look down at my Jeep, tell me how inefficient it is and how it would never be any good at doing what they do.

Some might call it overlanding, some might call it wheeling, and some might call it exploring. It is what it is. If you go by the book, yes there is a definition of it and whats considered overland. But everyone has their own opinions.

Yes, there really is a book isn't there and with definitions that delineates them from others. Seems pretty pretentious to me but, that's just my opinion. :yup:

I edited your post to fit my needs and how I want it to look, feel and read. I'm more comfortable with your statement now, and personally I feel good about that.

I wasn't going to do this, but you forced my hand. Yes, there is a book. Several as a matter of fact. There is even a journal. I know it's hard for knuckle-dragging rock crawlers to comprehend because most of them are unable to even read, or so I've heard (get it? I'd have to hear about it because I can't read).

But enough of that, I have documented proof of the written word. Now, before I reveal the picture please note that such documented evidence, like proof of bigfoot, is often hard to capture in the field. Thus, my picture is a little blurry, but there are enough supporting artifacts in the picture that one can be certain of its authenticity. I apologize for the blurriness of the picture, I was so blown away by what I was seeing that my hands were shaking with the greatness with which I was near.

First: As you can tell, this rare photograph was taken at SEMA. Because where else would you find a place to show off the ruggedness of your overlanding equipment than at the Las Vegas Convention Center?

Second: one needed look further than the leather shoes, khaki pants with pockets and matching (almost) long sleeve shirt (it is Vegas after all) to know a true overlander when you see one.

Third: Over the shoulder messenger bag...nuff said.

Fourth and Finally: Latest edition of "OVERLAND" journal stuffed into said messenger bag...with the title facing out of course.

That's a magazine for people who have "missed the runway" if you know what I mean. Wink wink.

If you do, tell me. I haven't been able to get any sleep lately and I'm a bit delusional.

I know I am not being constructive in this conversation :bleh:
