I hesitated for a while for that reason. Found a special bottle brush to clean it. Need to find a place to keep it before I unbox. Not the shortest decanter. Lol.

Had this the other night...it is made with the signature varietal of South Africa...pinotage, which is a cross of the pinot noir and cinsaut grapes. It was excellent, and reasonably priced.

I had an interesting South African wine this week, it was 100% cinsault. I don’t really recall ever having a 100% one before, as it is generally a blending wine. It was a bit fruity and soft for my taste but I see why it is used in blending. By the way, this is called Hermitage in SA, hence, as you point out, Pinotage is a cross between Pinot noir and Hermitage.

Roger that....there are more wines being made today with grapes that are traditionally blended, like petite verdot...

I stayed at a small boutique hotel in Portland last night and a couple of these were on the room bar...a can of pinot noir wine...a first for me. I can see the practical use for hiking/wheeling/boating...might have to try some.

I've seen these at bevmo and it immediately made me think of this thread. Hey the trending beer is to can it so why not wine. They already put it in boxes..;)

I’ve had some canned wine. Trader Joe’s sells it. Not great. But it will work in a pinch especially for the times as you described when you don’t want to haul a bottle around. I haven’t looked to see if there are better quality ones.
