Gmrs - the new cb?

The midland unit I have in my Jeep seems to work great! I love the micro form factor. I was able to mount the "brain" inside the arm rest with my CB "brain". I then ran cat5 cable up to the dash for a nice clean install.

Do you find the 15watt reaches out far enough on trails when the jeeps get split up, or through tall terrain? About how how far will it reach in those situations?

I didn't have any issues in Moab. But I don't think our group was stretched over a mile. That is the only time I have used it so far.

Keep in mind that these radios are line of sight. So with a clear line of sight you might be able to hit the advertised 50 mile mark.
