    Tow rigs

My tow pig, 2009 F350 V10. I don't often pull very heavy so it works for what I need although the mountain passes in Colo and Wyo make it work pretty hard. Last summer a couple of us tried pulling double to Moab and back. It's legal but I won't do it again. Randomly the Wrangler would start...

    Bought my first YJ!

Mine also has the 4-cylinder. If you're going to keep it, gearing is your friend! Keep the engine in a good state of tune but don't throw ANY money at performance parts. The only part you WILL have to watch out for is the rear axle. D35's have a flexy housing that eats up R&P's and blows the...

    MPG Towing

Our 2006 F250 6.0 diesel (stock, no tuner) gets 13mpg pulling one Jeep on the small trailer (5500lb'ish) and we got 10.5mpg with both Jeeps on the gooseneck (roughly 12,500lb) traveling to Moab and back. I typically tow at 65mph, slower if the speed limit requires it. Unloaded, the truck has...

    Electric fan

I'm using the fan assy out of a Pontiac Fiero. My buddy had it as a spare and it fits the radiator perfectly. I use a Deraile adjustable controller. It's worked great for a couple of years.

Welcome to the Tow Rig Forum!

I flat towed with my 2001 F150 for a number of years and it did great. Got to be a bit much though going up and down the mountains with the camper in the back AND the YJ on behind. Over the winter I picked up a 2009 F350 V10 from a friend of a friend. Truck has just over 100k on it and was...

My Pa-Inlaw runs stock 255's on 17x9 Cepeks with a 1.5" lift. It doesn't look bad.

    Who here grooves/cuts their tires?

I did a little "freshening" on my BFG 33x10.5's and it made a dramatic difference in their traction on hard packed snow. Before: After:

    Dick Cepek Extreme Country?

The DCEC's did great yesterday. They did everything I asked them to do plus a little. We played on the rocks for a few minutes but we were mostly just trail running. By the end of the day a number of guys were asking about them. I expected the tread blocks to show some wear but...

    Dick Cepek Extreme Country?

Sorry for being late to the party ;) When I went from 33x10.5's to 35x12.5's on my YJ, Cepek had just released the Extreme Country so I took a look at them. When my tire guy quoted me a price I had to give them a try. I'm not a mud guy but the varied terrain we play in requires a stout tire...

Moby's First Snow of the Season!!

Thanks for letting us know about the LED's. The lack of self-cleaning in the snow is something I was curious about. We went for a short trail ride on the mountain with some friends. Looks like you received more snow than we did. We were just stuck at -25° for nearly a week. I'd rather have...

SPOTTED: Any 4X4 other than a Jeep JK/JL Wrangler

On a recent trip to Yellowstone, we stopped for the weekend in Cody. Saw this running all over the place, unfortunately this was the only shot I got of it. Very cool truck.
