Checking on one of my projects under construction. Can’t stay at my desk when it is 60 and sunny in Michigan. Time to go fly the drone!

Is that center section timber framed? We plumb homes like this here in northern In, it’s fun to see such large beautiful homes. This is the back yard of one we are working on

What a waste - just think of the boulder playground that guy could have for a Jeep instead :D

Its really interesting to see some of these homes get built. Had one here in the Pgh area that a software millionaire from CMU built. Unbelievble.
Guy had a real batcave accessible by a hidden elevator with a H1 parked in it. He'd blast out of the tunnel and tear through his fields scaring the
shit out of the workers :cheesy:

Lmao, haven’t seen a bat cave yet! Safe rooms with hidden entrances are getting popular

It’s fun living vicariously through our clients! Yes, the center of that house is all timber framed.

This is the interior of another large timber frame that we have under construction right now:

I design a couple of them every year. It’s amazing how quick they can assemble them. But the timber structures make it quite a bit more difficult you all the rest of the trades getting everything worked in! That garden scape is insane! I agree with Ddays, if it were us, we’d build a boulder course!

That is so awesome. We did work for a timber frame builder for a while but he couldn’t sell enough of them around here so he moved to the UP years ago. I would live in a timber frame for sure, hell I’d live in an old barn

Beautiful homes you guys are setting up. I can only dream, but then I think about the cleaning, upkeep, and property taxes

Timber frame like that is my Powerball house!

Agree on the barn - my best friend build a house out of two old barns. All exposed hand hewn timbers and hand cut pegs. Flooring is all recycled siding, man, its absolutely beautiful. Walking through that house is like woodworker porn!

Thank you! It really has been a dream come true for me to design and build homes like that.

The upkeep is endless but for those clients, it’s not that much of a concern. They are typically one of many homes they own and they have teams of people that manage all of that.

Total carpentry porn!

If I could ever convince my wife to move out of our 100 year old house in downtown Rochester that we live in and design our own home, it would be a timber frame. Just a small one with a giant stone fireplace. Warm and beautiful. But she has her dream house and I have my Jeeps. Life in balance!

You and me both! One of the timber frame companies that constructs the timbers for my designs is out of Blissfield, Mi south of Ann Arbor. They are part of a national company based out of Idaho. I also have a great old timer that has been building them for 45 years that handles my smaller scale projects that lives up my way. 51E19316C012B31A3D5661DCF671431F.jpg IMG_7789.jpg

The cost to build something like that here in LA would be insane.... if you could find the land.... and if you could find that much land and build that, you’d be a brain surgeon lawyer that directs movies and owns half of Microsoft....... a 3500 SF home can easily sell for 2-5 million here at the beach.... shit, a 1600sf tear down near LAX airport can sell for 1 mil. Totally Jealous of what you guys can do out there..... You Bastards!! Lol
