VIDEO : 20 YEARS of SEMA Highlights

I did pick up on the one between Bestop and Rugged Ridge haha Pretty sure it was Rugged with there soft top.

This definitely got me excited to attend this year 🤘🏼
LOL - That was one for sure but if you look further back, you'll see one in regards to suspension systems. Specifically, if you look at the Full Traction long arm kit, they have a "NO RADIUS ARMS" sticker on the skid plate. Radius arms came about back in the TJ days and offered solutions on how to run long arms on it but they're far from being a great solution. Hence, why you don't see too much of them today.

Me looking for two hours so I can watch this.

Damn, that means it was 15 years ago that I met you and Cindy in person for the first time. Where did the time go?!?

I agree with DOR, feels like the innovation has been lacking for many years. I need someone to “wow” me with front and rear bumpers for my Gladiator, and with a V8 swap that is problem free!

That was great! wow time flies and I actually remember much of it!

So many IMO would've been great products that never made it to market, but I guess that's why it's SEMA.

Most notably, the RealTruck hardtop; something I was hoping for, but it seems to have died in the idea bin, also OHLINS, they still have the adventure link with a Jeep image on their website but, they've removed Jeep from the selection options and appears they pulled the Jeep lineup.

It was a great watch seeing all the changes over the last 20 years (y)

Totally nuts how much time has flown by!

As far as innovation goes, that's a tough one. The early days of the JK was also back when the Great Recession was going on. I didn't mention it in the video but 2008 was the smallest show we had seen up to that time and 2009 and 2010 were just a little better. Back then, guys were selling their sand rails and other toys and were making their Jeep their all around go to everything vehicle. It'd be their daily driver during the week and their play toy for the weekend. At that time, a lot of companies were trying to get in on the action. Of course now, Bronco isn't helping anything but the extreme cost of Jeeps isn't either or at least, as far as the aftermarket goes. These days, guys who are wanting a weekend toy are just buying a side by side and calling it a day. All of this is just killing the motivation for new companies to get into the industry.

It is a bummer that a lot of this stuff never makes it out to market but I'm sure a lot of that is because there just isn't enough interest for them.

at the prices they poll, I can see that being a huge interest loser.
Even with all the consolidation prices on many things just seem too high.

Too bad OHLINS didn't stay to play, my guess was the poor marketing confusion on the price. Making it seem like a $3,000 per shock price when it was actually for all four I bet had a huge impact.
if TeraFlex can sell their crap at that price, the far superior OHLINS should've been a hit.
I really wanted some for my 2010 jku but they never became available.

Actually, Ohlins was bought out by Brembo earlier in the year and there's been a lot of restructuring going on since then. For now, they were forced to shelve their offroad aftermarket line of shocks and focus on OE applications. I was told that they are planning on getting back into things like Jeep but it may be a while.

Awesome video, it’s crazy to see how much the builds have changed from then to now. It was cool to see Moby growing up year by year too
Glad you enjoyed it and yeah, the build really did change quite a bit over the years. From functional and more practical to just nuts LOL
