Tire imbalance or death wobble?

If you can imagine it, then it could happen. The tire can change its shape as it becomes warmer. When the tire becomes warmer, the pressure goes up, which will have some impact on the shape of the tire. If there is a manufacturing defect, then the final shape of the tire could be bad.

Tire balancing only evaluates the vibration relative to the hub while rotating. The tire could be square yet be perfectly balanced.
This. When I had my shimmy, it was almost guaranteed to happen when it was between 25-40F degrees out, on the first trip of the day on the highway. Colder than that, didn't happen, warmer, didn't happen as much but still could. After driving for awhile, it wasn't as much of an issue.
