Awesome pics from the weekend! That’s such a cool property, look fwd to seeing what you guys do with it over the years. Like you my only worry for the snake would be Riley!

I would also recommend ‘snake proofing’ Ripley. We did this for our most recent German shepherd and it worked great. Kept him and us from being bite- multiple times.

Cindy looked up classes and holy hell, the closest one to us is booked up for the year. Even the next closest one which it out in Fallon is booked up until the middle of June. Still, we decided to make an appointment for it and then go to Frey afterward LOL

Thanks for the tip on this. I know you mentioned it before but it's definitely something we need to do.

Good reminder, something I need to do with my dog next time I'm in Utah.

Last year we were hiking on a trail, and she sniffed one out in some brush, I never saw it, but I heard it.

Luckily, I had her on the leash (long leash) but pulled her back fast, fast enough to surprise her ... she may have flown a little lol

Okay, looked into this a bit and it turns out that you need a minimum of 60 Elk on the property and Fish & Game needs to come out, count and verify as much. I don't think we have more than 2 dozen or so. Also, monetary compensation is only provided if the land in question is a cash crop - range land does not count. But, there's more to go through and maybe there's still a way to make something work.

Well that sucks. I had no idea there was a number requirement. I wonder if there is a way to address the cash crop side of it…like plant about 20 ears of corn. ;)
 
With all the elk that have been hanging out, it'd been a while since we've seen any deer stroll into Tin Camp. Well, that changed yesterday with these two that came to graze in the pasture, just after dusk and with a light snow falling from the sky.
