The never-ending 'wave' discussion thread

On any given day... driving the streets of L.A... I wave at close to 10 Jeeps... usually ones that are not stock. On average I get about 1 wave back. That's 10 percent if you're doing the math. Is there any other city worse than here for waving?

My wife laughs at me because I wave at passing Jeeps! I had to school her on the Jeep wave!

I had to teach my brother as well. He thought I was nuts on our first cross country road trip. In the middle of Idaho I waved at a jeep right before pulling into the gas station. He happened to be going the same place. I laughed because I told my brother to get ready to spew facts about my jeep because the other guy was going to come talk to us. He was so embarrassed he hid in the other side of the pump.... Hahaha!!!

That's funny.

Even modded jeeps don't wave back for the most part in SoCal. I figure they bought them off a used car lot that way and they are clueless. People with club stickers, corva, etc.. usually wave back.

Memphis is kinda bad but out in the suburbs it's much better. I do have to admit though that like 80-90% of the people that drive jeeps either live out in the suburbs and work or go to school in the city. It's about 60/40 here on wave to no wave ratio i feel like

Here in the DFW (TX) most ppl do, I have to say about a 85 percent will always give you a wave (even when stock).

I wave a lot and always happy to have it returned even though maybe 1 in 10 times it happens. When somebody waves first whoo hoo: "It is not just a jeep, it is a way of life"

Yep... I see a lot of done up Jeeps with people that you can tell never went off road... let alone know what dirt is.

Los Angeles ain't that bad... Except for Hollywood, it really is that bad.

Because of the density, I'll usually find a jeep-buddy driving to or from work a few times a week. And whenever I get out to any of the deserts there's no shortage of hands. :)

I'm back and forth between the Valley and Hollywood... I'm kinda in the worst area.

I lived in MD for my whole life up until I moved to CA and I feel like 1 out of every 10 in MD wouldn't wave. I miss that.

I moved from CA about 3 years ago and never looked back. I was in the high desert and the wave is alive and well - so is crime, gangs, mayhem, etc., but what the hell, it was the desert. Great wheeling though and there's still open spaces.

I don't get a lot of returned waves in OC either.
But I know I miss returning some from time to time too... because my kids tell me when it happens. :dont_tell:
They're always on the lookout to let me know where the Jeeps are as we're driving.
They're usually waving from the backseat too.

I didn't know what the wave was when I first got my Jeep. The first time I got waved at was when I was filling up gas and sitting inside my Jeep as another Jeep owner walked in front of me and waved at me. All I did was smile back. I don't know if he saw me but I feel bad I did not wave back. If you are that guy I am sorry.
