Thanks for sharing these. Its great to see some of these unmolested places still exist at least for now.
Always happy to know there are people out there who can still appreciate things like this. I sometimes get the opinion that unless it's some kind of trainwreck or something 'badass', it just isn't worth anyone's time.
 
Yeah I was fortunate to visit Winkler's cabin before it burned down in the Hackberry fire. They've had some bad fires out there in the last 2 to 3 years too. Being that it's in a national preserve it makes it very hard to fight them due to the permissions needed to implement certain tactics. Usually by then the opportunities have passed.
So crazy the rules that are in place to help protect places like this actually allow for more harm to be done.

Yeah a lot of it makes no sense. There is so much beaureacratic BS nothing ever gets done within the required timelines, especially fire suppression and fuels treatments.
