Unfortunately I think it has to be "vertical". My mom in FL was able to gift it to me. All on the up and up through an FFL and the DOJ. Grandparent to grandkid, parent to kid, etc. I'm pretty sure you can do private party transfer though, if you can find someone selling one, would just cost a lot more in CA.Like my sister in Oregon could buy one and “sell” it to me?
I did a quick search on legally selling/transferring thru a California FFL dealer, this is the result

if they tell you to turn around and bend over ... RUN!!Yeah, I’ll talk to my shop about it first.
You can count on that!if they tell you to turn around and bend over ... RUN!!
Exactly. Intra-familial transfer is legal and only needs to go through an FFL if being done between states. Private party sale in easy to find in CA but you gotta be willing to spend $1500 on a $500 gun. The 43x is a great gun though!Unfortunately I think it has to be "vertical". will be interesting to see if a firearm not on the California approved list qualifies for thisExactly. Just got off the phone with my gun shop. They said it’s only allowed if it’s a parent or grandparent that lives out of state. They can transfer it directly but it needs to be registered and all that other shiz.will be interesting to see if a firearm not on the California approved list qualifies for this
