Random (non-Jeep) Shit You’re Working On....

Thanks, I’m really happy with the floor! Now we will finish out the house. Didn’t want to do the whole house to realize we wanted a different color or style.

That Jeep is sweet! I played with it first 🤣
Real wood floor? What species of wood?

Wife and I are thinking of doing wide planks of Cherry, white oak, and red oak wood floors. The planks would vary in width from 6" to 10"

I’ll preface this with the fact that we have 3 dogs and my daughters regularly bring theirs home to run outside when they visit, but we went with the vinyl flooring this time around and couldn’t be happier. No stress with a spill, doggie accidents or muddy paws, and the new stuff looks great and is maintained with a mop. Hardwood looks great but I know I’d be losing my shit worrying about scratches on the new hardwood if we had it. We had it for almost 30 years and I liked it better worn than new

Yup, vinyl plank for us as well for these reasons ^^^

Yeah, real wood floors with dogs is not a good idea if scratches would piss you off. We went with acaia hard wood. Was promised that it’s one of THE toughest of the hardwoods and our two labs and aussie cattle dog wouldn’t damage it at all. Well, it’s a good thing my black lab, Kota, with his black diamond tipped and fire-hardened nails was my favorite dog. It was no time before that floor totally jacked. I did lose my shit. He and the cattle dog have passed but i have the floors to remember them by. 😂

Yeah wood floors and dog nails are not ideal.

My English mastiff can destroy just about anything and that cheap laminate flooring crap is fubar.

He better be glad I love him. 😂

Unfortunately he is getting to the point my wife and I have a decision to make. He is going blind and has lost a ton of weight. Waiting on lab work results. My heart breaks.

That sucks man, hope they can figure something out. 😢

Really sucks when they reach that age, it's always way too soon

Bought my kid a GMT800 that needed a “transmission” turned out to be a destroyed set of carrier bearings in the rear dif.

IMG_0037.jpeg

carrier was toast, the bearing spun on the flange and galled it excessively.
IMG_0061.jpeg

After scrounging through all my spare parts and pulling the carrier out of a scrap chassis with no success, I figured out my 07 Escalade parts car had the exact same carrier and gear ratio.

IMG_0059.jpeg

Scrubbed out the housing, tossed in new axle seals, pinion seal and installed the differential using the bearings and shims from Cadillac pattern wasn’t perfect but decided to run it.

Also fabed up an exhaust out of scrap parts and have been repairing things as I find them. Discovered the radiator leaking yesterday, while pulling the fans I found this crispy critter…

🤣🤣🤣🤣
