Random (non-Jeep) Shit You’re Working On....

A shitload. The guys at The Tile Shop were helpful too. In my lifetime I've been lucky enough to be around some contractors doing it and two of them did it full time. So even years ago I have some memories of watching them. Lucky for me, this won't be heavily walked on or anything and with the stone we chose, any mistake will add to the cosmetic value.
If you need a tile saw I have one you can use. Might be too late.

Thanks. I appreciate it but for this small of a project we ultimately just went with a 4 inch blade for the hand grinder. It was cheaper than renting a saw. For a larger project, I would definitely want a saw.
Yeah I will end up needing to do a lot so I picked up a good table saw from a friend of a friend that was having an estate sale. Totally worth it.

Got tiles set. Kind of a pain in the ass. The tile guy told me it may be. These tiles aren't exactly symmetrical even with a pattern so after the lay out, they have to go in the same spot. So a lot of pulling and gluing. Whereas in a square/rectangle setup, you can put the adhesive and then add the tiles. In my case, I had to pull tiles and leave other tiles there and put the adhesive around them. Either way, visually I'm happy. These things also are different heights. Hopefully the stove doesn't rock too much.

Turned out great. I could imagine that would be a frustrating job.

Are you done ???

No, Dear.

3 tiles had to be re-glued. But I did seal them today. Tile shop guy recommended sealing them before grouting. That way if grout gets on them, it's easy to wipe off. Then after grouting, one more reseal.

Glad I found the loose tiles though. When I pulled them, the adhesive underneath was still wet. I thought that stuff dried quicker.

Thank you for your response darling!!
I have done my share of tile work back in the day so indeed tile glue takes a while to dry especially down south.
Forget fuckers at the counter. Be smart about it as it is no brainer. I would have used thin set mixture as it retains less moisture and dryers faster. After all your game plan is right. I like the pattern you picked and it does look good just make sure your heavy the stove than can be supported by the materials used!!!

Luckily this won't be walked on. The tile guy seemed legit. I told him I wanted to do it right without being overkill. And I told him it was just for a stove. We went with a pre-mixed mastic just because it was a small area.
