Random Internet Shit you've come across

I’m not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I don’t care if they don’t like us, on the other it’s kinda scary. 😳

If I understand correctly, a totalitarian regime that regularly commits genocide on it's own citizens, and has a hard on for hive mindedness has a "low opinion" of us?

Yeah, we have something in the works here too…
It’s called Environmental Social Governance (ESG) score. I think it’s being used more against businesses rather than individuals, but it’s coming. Don’t follow the rules? Lose credit score, access to your bank, and I’m sure more.
ESG’s have been around for a little bit, but their use is getting more prevalent. So much so that different states have enacted laws for/against their use in a variety of circumstances…including obtaining loans. It’s crazy. I drafted some anti-ESG language for public works contracting for a particular state. It didn’t pass this session but I am hopeful it might next session.

The shrinks are going to get rich with all the snowflakes losing it over twitter being ran by someone who understands free speech 🤣
Honest question. Do you believe that the First Amendment should apply to Twitter (a privately owned company)? If so, what is the turning point for you for when a private social media platform can no longer control what it chooses to put on its platform?

(To be clear, I think Elon’s purchase of Twitter is the ultimate example of fuck you money…and it’s hilarious. I’m just not convinced it’s a free speech issue)

I don’t. You sign up to join it. Don’t like it don’t use it. But I am glad he bought it if he is truly going the free speech route.

Twitter canceling or banning a president or any conservative viewpoint that there liberal agenda don’t agree with is censorship but yet the Iranian mullahs and others including Putin are free to spew ? Like it or not twitter has become the media platform of this generation but if there is no opposing view points for them to ponder other than the left wing socialists talking points Then yes I do believe it’s a first amendment issue privately owned or not .
and same here I could give two shits about twitter never had an account never will .

Are you saying that you think the First Amendment should apply to private corporations generally, or that you think Twitter’s viewership is so large that the government should step in and tell Twitter what it can and cannot put on, or remove from, it’s site?

Should the same concepts have been applied to something like the Rush Limbaugh show? Why not?

Is it the absence of a competing opinion on that particular social media platform that bothers you, or are you bothered by the absence of a different social media platform that has competing opinions?

I’d say Sharkey is correct here.. and who cares if private companies like Twatter ban people or push an agenda.. Let the whole world see who the real fucktards are so we can take our business elsewhere… or choose to stay and fight back.

I’m not trying to be right or wrong, just trying to get people to think about things and consider the long game.

Personally, I don’t want the government (regardless of which bullshit party is in control at the given moment) stepping in and telling Twitter what it can or cannot do.

It’s my understanding that they enjoy a level of protection given to other media organizations that need to adhere to government standards. If they are allowed to be protected by those rules they also need to abide by them, in this case being fair to opposing view points.

The supreme court already decided that corporations are capable of political thought like an individual.

Certainly Twitter is free to control posts on its platform.

Maybe Elon is a true believer in "free speech" or maybe he just has a different set of rules. Maybe they are to assure "free speech" for himself.
