Oscar's No Build Thread

I like this set up you have. Question though, how is the sound on it? I’m in the market for one and like how this one is small and can be placed out of the way. The CBs I have ran in the past, sometimes I had trouble hearing them (top down, doors off, exhaust, mud tires), granted this was only during road driving to/from wheeling.

I wish I could give you a definitive answer. I just installed it so I can’t comment as to how it is with the Jeep open.

The unit had two speakers, one in the mic which I have on and the other in the console that you can see in the pictures. I have that one off for now. I tested the unit using my FRS hand held on a low watt channel (#4) from a couple hundred feet away. The sound was loud a clear with the Jeep off, parked in the garage. I also had it scanning around town while running errands around town and it seemed good when it picked up a random conversation that someone was having.

If I start having trouble, I’m going to turn on the console speaker and drill some small holes through the plastic kick panel to let the sound through.

The console also has a port to attach an additional accessory speaker. Another option is to tap the sound system speakers. Hope that helps!

Awesome thanks. I may have to add this to my watch list now. Seems like it will be a good buy.

I would put your winch controller somewhere you could easily get to it. Like the glovebox.

I pulled my winch controller out of my recovery bag and moved it into my center console awhile back...after seeing someone slide off the trail in a precarious spot and time was of the essence to get the winch hooked up and going...

Took a ride to Rock Island Illinois to pick up a set of Enhanced Rubi Rails that a fellow Jeeper was just about giving away.

I was thrilled to ditch the plastic side steps and get them mounted.

Looking forward to bouncing them off some rocks in the near future!
