Hey all, I figured I would come here to get help identifying a bracket I've never seen on any of my previous Jeeps. Passenger side attached to the frame. It appears to serve no purpose that I can see. ??

It’s supposedly to prevent rollovers. There’s a number of threads on the subject. This is the latest.

26 gladiator anti rollover tire bracket

Thanks. That answers that. So I can definitely remove it. I was genuinely curious. It looks ridiculous and out of place.

It’s very hard to remove just fyi. The bolts are hardened so tough to cut thru. If you’re not hitting it with your tires or need to install brackets that would go there then I would leave it.

Its purpose is to help prevent a rollover. Safety standard.

Besides which, how well will a factory safety implement work with a 3.5" lift and 37's?

I thought that these were welded to the frame whereas this one is bolted and looks easy to take off.

There is a mounting bracket that is welded to the frame. The main bulk of the bracket is bolted to that. I made short work of all of with my cut off wheel and grinder.

Yep, unbolted mine, then cut the remainder down nearly flush with the frame rail, ground the edges smooth and painted black! Much better and not getting hung up on a rock!

I believe It’s supposed to keep the wheel from folding under thereby allowing the jeep to roll over that corner

What Jerry said, it’s supposed to help keep the tire from going under the vehicle and frame which can cause a rollover.

Tons of MFG have them just in different designs. Toyota uses the enlarges the front body mount , ford uses a big bar on the front and back of the tire, etc.

Other mfg just make it way less noticeable
