Making a Move From Southern CA to Northern CA, Northern, NV

Well we've been looking to move out of the hustle and bustle of Southern CA for some time now. Lisa applied to several locations way at the northern end of CA and received several interviews. After her second interview she was offered a position at a small school in Litchfield, CA. After a lot of discussion and mulling over the opportunity, she accepted the job today and we'll be making a move this summer! Not quite sure where we'll land. We were hoping to reside out of CA and her work in CA just due to her job. We'll see if that's doable but not sure if we want to be in the mix of Reno and its suburbs. Plus its pretty expensive there. Super scary and a lot of unknowns but its all exciting. Its going to be a big change for us but a good one. We'll be travelling to the area in mid March to get a better feel for the area. Anyone with insight on a move like this or the area would be great. Big thanks to @CalSgt I reached out to him and he provided a ton of info about the area. I'll definitely be picking his brain. So it looks like the NorCal caravan for next year's NY Kickoff run just got longer...haha. We'll keep everyone posted and the progress

That’s great man, if you wanted to live in NV and near Reno, but not in it, you could look around the red rock area, we have friends who like up there and they are ~40min north of Reno off 395 in CA, but their road essentially dropped them back into NV. Lots of property out there, more affordable, still in NV and not far from Reno/the north valleys where there are plenty of stores, ect. Might make the commute more realistic IMG_4684.pngIMG_4685.jpeg

This ^^^ We've looked at property there and it's super nice. Still get the benefit of no state income tax and other CA BS too.

Yeah i was looking in that area. Any homes for sale were pretty expensive. However there is a lot of land for sale there and thought about maybe buying land and hauling in a manufactured home. There is a company in Carson city.

Yea totally get it, you’ll have to consider all the property taxes, income taxes, everything. Which may or may not pencil out depending on how much properties are in CA. Happy to help you anyway I can, Alex is just starting a real estate business too, so if you need help in NV let me know and I can get you guys connected with her if you want.

Sounds good. Appreciate the help. Yeah were going to have to crunch numbers for sure. Plus home owners insurance in CA is stupid too.
