JL WRANGLER on the ROCKS - JET Li's First Time Off Road

As much as Cindy and I have been dying to take JET Li, our brand new 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited off road, we've been trying our hardest to be disciplined and hold off long enough so that we can take photos and document whatever we could and all before getting him dirty. Well, even though we've still got more to do, we just couldn't hold out any longer and so yesterday, we broke down and took a short drive down to the end of the street. While we didn't do a whole lot, we did get him out on dirt, shifted into low range, sway bar disconnected, lockers engaged and even got him up on the rocks.

Full stuff in the rear and with room to spare. If 35's can be run on factory wheels or new wheels with a lot of back spacing, I think you could do it with little to no lift.

Another shot of the rear tire stuffed up and into the fenders. The key to running 35's with little to no lift will be in the ability to keep the tires articulating up into the fenders.

I'm pretty sure you are itching to get the lift and some 40" on him.. The best thing is that you can just dive up the rocks at your backyard..
How is the engine responsiveness during the climbs? I think folks shifting from JK to Jl should be a bit more lighter on the pedal, if I'm not wrong..

Edit: The JL logo on the fender, is that of the forum Eddie?

there's still room under the fender flares, that's pretty impressive.

my short drive to the end of the street to find an area to get off road legally is about a 12 hour drive lol

what transfer case unit is in the JL? same as the JK?
 
Nice flex for a stock rig!! Can’t wait for the first wheeling video to drop!! I think that will be the final nail in the “Ryan needs a JL” coffin.

Droop and stuff

Looks like Jet Li is very capable out of the box. There is a fine line between that mild build to say “tune” what’s good, small lift low COG and 35/37’s and doing the full Moby:thumb:. I have regretted going over that damn line and chasing it to make it work and have manners I can live with. Can’t wait to see more, thank you Eddie and Cindy, keep up the good work!
 
Very cool pics, I keep looking at the hard top to see if I can see that blemish now. ;)

Actually, we're really enjoying driving this JL stock. No lie, it's super quite, amazingly comfortable and pretty damn capable as is. A small part of us - very small, is kinda dreading building it up being that it really is that nice.

Engine and gearing of the transmission/transfer case makes climbs a breeze. It really is a point and go setup.

Regarding the JL logo that you see, that is our trademarked logo for our www.JLWRANGLER.com website. :yup:

Moby and Rubicat are really built to perfection - or at least, in our opinion. But, I will have to agree that there is a place in between stock and where they're at that can be just okay.
