Jeep dogs!!!

Rags, on the right, is now 11, a puppy rescue from a local shelter. Our Jeep actually belongs to him, his name is even on the state tag. Cort is on the left and has only been with us a few months; we took him off a young couple who needed to rehome him. I've had/seen some stupid dogs in my life, but poor Cort may take the prize (supposed to be a Lab/Aussie mix, but got none of the smart traits of either breed), but he is very sweet-natured and has found a new home here. Both love to ride and both love Christmas, as you can plainly see ;)

I think Cort's issue was the young couple, training makes the dog brain function 👍
You are correct on former owners. He is nearly 3. By their admission, he was kept indoors and crated for way too much of his life, due to work, school, and the family being gone for their daughters' activities, and he was getting little social time with humans or other dogs and kept confined. He is a live wire, lol and has ants in his pants. He has noticeably settled down since we got him, and I think a part of his being "stupid" is just his nervous energy and his inability to control/contain it, but it is getting better, and he is also still pretty young. He still chews up a lot in the house and I'm surprised at that with his age, as his big brother quit that pretty abruptly at 12 months, but I know he is young and has a big lack of training and socialization and that this will improve.

On the "stupid" side, he is not real careful about running into things, both outside and inside, making for some funny moments. He has no clue what to do about water when we take him to the lakes or out hiking near water, and it's pretty comical. And I've NEVER seen a dog that loves to play fetch not be able to track ANY thrown object that he wants to chase down and fetch. This dog watches you throw and then bolts out to any random point in the yard, thinking that the object MUST be where he arrived, instead of tracking it in air and arriving at the right spot. Never seen it, but it's especially baffling since he's half Lab (the water issue is also puzzling from this aspect). This fetching behavior has led to a ton of laughs.
