I Totally Blew it but Totally Lucked Out!!

So, I was driving down highway and pulling into town when I came up to the first intersection and the light turned yellow. Thinking that I could totally make the light, I gave it just a bit of extra gas but before I knew it, the light turned red... way before I got there. Being that I was already way too committed to what I was doing, I cruised on through the intersection only to see a Highway Patrol sitting in the left turn lane in front of me. Thinking that I was totally busted, I immediately started to slow up and was getting ready to pull over but then, looking back in my rear view mirror, I saw that he made his left turn and just kept on going. Needless to say, I totally blew it but totally lucked out.

With that said, I know I can't be the only one who's experienced something like this and was hoping that some of you would be willing to share your stories on how you totally blew it, at whatever it is you were doing but totally lucked out in spite of it. 😁
 
Not me, but I was behind a car at a light today, we were both going straight, the green arrow turn light came on and they proceeded through the red light we were sitting, instead of just owing it they then stopped mid intersection and avoided an accident but then zoomed through to get out of everyone’s way coming from the opposite side. At that point i was like, what an idiot, but as they kept driving some guy was walking across the street, granted not in a cross walk but clearly the driver was looking back in their mirrors or something as they didn’t slow down and the guy took off running and barley missed getting hit hard. I’d say that driver totally blew it and got real lucky- albeit they are a moron lol.
 
Can't really remember one ignoring me like that. I even had a CHP run me down once for going to fast on the old hwy. He was on the freeway 2 miles to the West... Ignored everyone else on the freeway to get off at the exit & come get me. I've never had the "luck" of them ignoring me 😯.
But I too have seen them ignore someone else do something blatant in front of of them & me. So I figure if I do something in front of any cruiser, I might as well pull over & wait 😂
 
Back in my fast and furious days the car next to me and myself were at the front of a crowded red light revving up our engines. We both had cars that indicated to the other that we liked to race. Light turns green, I floor it, rubber screeching, loud pipes, etc. Dude next to me didn't go for it. As I go through the intersection, there's a cop right there in the front of the left turn lane (across from where we were revving) . The cop's neck snapped so fast towards me. I knew I was fucked. I slow down, watching my rear view. The cop makes his left turn and never pursued me. I was stunned.

I had gotten stuck in an ugly traffic jam on my way to a local wheeling spot, I saw a chance to ditch the road and drive along the shoulder where an opening to a dirt road was. About a 1/4 mile into it I blew past a UHP officer sitting in the same traffic jam. Knowing I completely blew itI instantly pulled over, didn’t even wait for him to pull out to the side and turn his lights on.

When he got to my window he just said “if I had your jeep, I’d have done the same, since you pulled over without me lighting you up, I’ll chalk it up to a lucky day”

Let me continue on to the turn off and that was that.
 
I was headed home from the Lake on the 5 near Bakersfield… Haulin ass in the Fast lane… I saw a cop on the shoulder with the speed gun out pointed right at me… I immediately without hesitation slowed down and moved over to the second lane… He jumped into traffic with his lights on and I watched him pull over the guy that was directly behind me when I was in the fast lane. That was awesome.
 
Years ago I had a 1978 CJ-5 with a built fuel injected 401 and a T-18 4 speed. From 0 to 90 the Jeep was a rocket ship.

From a stop light I made a left turn and once through the turn decided to get on it. As I was passing through 85 I saw a Phoenix cop parked on a side street and running radar. Of course he lit me up and pulled me over. He got out of his car and came up and look at my Jeep in disbelief. He did a walk around staring at the Jeep and then finally walked up to me and stated: “I clocked you at 85, there is no possible way this Jeep could have been doing 85 from that light!” Of course I agreed! He told me to slow down and then got back in his cruiser drove off.

I thought I was going to jail but as my Grandmother used to say “God looks after fools, drunks, and small children.“

Well ain't that sumthin 😁. The one I mentioned happened on old 58 in Tehachapi, headed to town from the cement plant. Sometimes if you see them & slow down or stop & wait, they'll give you a break.

Okay, I got one of these.

Back in the mid 80's, on the interstate in my topless, door less CJ7 with it's awesome 4 banger racing a Toyota 4x4 pickup lifted.
Blow by 2 State Troopers and they immediately light up and follow in hot pursuit. I back down and turn on signal to pull over, `Yota runs.
One Trooper pulls behind me, the other takes off after the `Yota.
Trooper comes up all growly voiced with his Smokey hat pulled down low to his sunglasses "WATHEPHUQUTHINKYERDOIN" I hand over license and registration without looking at him.

Asshole starts laughing at me and I look up and it's a buddy from high school. Yup, no ticket.
