Hinrichs build

I think you got a little lost there. hinrichs is on 37s, but we were talking about him trading jeeps with Grubbicon and he has 40s. But yes, 40s are too big for stock axles.

That makes sense. I thought grub wouldn't want to trade his rig so it was more of a joke. :sly:

I just looked on the jeep site, half doors are no longer an option

Only worry for a trade in, is all the holes lol.

Its not on their website but its an option when you order from the dealership. At Least it was with my 2015. I was so close to getting them, but i wanted a hardtop for winter so i needed full doors. If you want to sell your half doors let me know 😁

Not sure if you were on the computer or your phone but throught my phone they are still an option. 1437690400650.jpg

I look forward to how you'll build a JKU. :yup:

Yup I actually did do that. Ive been thinking about getting rid of my jeep and getting a 2dr if I could find the right deal. Im just not a huge fan of the long wheelbase I want to build one to the Wheelbase of what I want which is about a foot shorter then 4dr.

Also sorry that was a little off topic to this thread.

Thought about it, but I dont really want the older auto and higher miles. The 40s are tempting but then Id need new axles since I cant run 1 tons in pa due to the width.

As far as keeping the tires within the fenders/wheel flares, did you go with wider flares?

If it wasnt due to our fenders laws in PA, I would have already done a comp cut and stretch like vengence. I did look into the body stretch, but thats around 8k last time I checked.

I dont have any issues running trimmed factory flares. Inspections can be a little bit of a hassle but not too bad. I was running bushwacker flares which are supposed to be wider than stock but I didnt notice a difference. I think steve (cuzdude) got atx chamber pro to have the slight less offset to help with fender/tire coverage.

The 2 door owner is a dying breed, almost as endangered as.. Well.. Pandas  :grayno:

I do love the jeep, just getting kinda annoyed by the lack of space. I mean not like I go to the mall shopping with it, but Im just tired of having to crawl into the back seats to get to my cooler and stuff on the trail anymore. I took 3 friends one time wheeling, which was just annoying having no room for a small cooler and tools. We were quite packed in lol.

Because once you drive and/or wheel the longer wheelbase you will wonder why on earth you haven't made the switch. I talked Alana into the 4-door (It suited the family better at the time) but all she talked about was having a 2-door so I bought her one. Now she wishes the 4-door was her DD driver again. There is only 1.5 advantages to a 2-door; 1) tight trail maneuverability, 0.5) Looks.

wheelbase for the win!

I believe this so much that I will either be stretching the 2-door or selling it when the JL releases (provided I like what I see).

I wish you were closer so I could do some easy trails in your jeep to really sell me on it. Ive only ever rode passenger in one for like 100 ft lol.

Having owned a 4 door, then switching to a 2 door, i can tell you what i like/dislike.

I like wheeling my 2 door a lot more then wheeling my 4 door. The 4 door was a lot nicer for everyday things though. I removed my backseat in my 2 door so the cargo area doesn't bother me but when a couple guys wanna go out to lunch its annoying bc i can only seat me and someone else. Removing 2 doors is a lot nicer then taking off 4 hahaha if you get a 4 door i highly recommend a hardtop for the winter. Its a life saver.

I will say too, the 4 door ride is a lot smoother on the road than the two door. I switched from a rubicon and downgraded to a sport and honestly the only features i miss from my rubicon are the nav and electronic swaybar. The rubi lockers are junk. I would honestly get a sport with half doors like you want add on what features you want, then take the 10k you saved from not getting a rubi and buy the electronic sway bar, a prorock and ARB lockers and enjoy the extra 2-3k you just saved.

...don't forget the t-case. the 4:1 is a BIG difference.

We've wheeled the wife's Jeep plenty. The 2-door doesn't climb as well and is nose happy. I suppose it's how and where you play, but I'd rather back up every once in awhile to make a turn or pull a little line to get off being high-centered than go end-over-end back down a hill.

On the road a 2-door drives like a fish on crack! It's exhausting on a long and potentially windy trip.

Just my :twocents: The great thing about Jeeps and the hobby is building what you like or want :yup:

I think I have spent the last few months convincing myself 2 doors are better. I can't read things like this, makes me rethink.

I have literally walked right up this little bump several times in my 4-door... This picture was taken moments after the wife settled the nose after nearly going over backwards. (notice my face)

I'll admit there are some aspect that are better with a 2-door.... and I can see where (for some) they are the right choice. It's really up to the individual to weigh the pros and cons for themselves. For us, it definitely falls to the 4-door for the win, but that doesn't mean it's right for everyone... :thumb::beer:
