MetalCloak is relatively new to the industry but have been great at marketing their product. While a lot of their stuff isn't terrible, it's far from being as awesome as their fanboys tend to regurgitate. Their 6-pak shocks leak and are almost the price of coil overs, they've had a lot of bending problems with their tie-rods and even some with their control arms and had joint breaks/failures early on too. They are making improvements but I'd hate to have been or still be one of their test subjects while they figure things out.

The guy that owns this company is a serial "inventer". Problem is that instead of incorporating proven components into his kits he comes up with goofy shit like those 6 pack shocks. More gimmicky doesn't make it better. Johnny joints are the best joints in the business period. IMHO anyone that doesn't incorporate those joints isn't as good as someone that does. Anyone can measure and make an arm. Hell you can buy your own JJ's and make better arms than 80% of what's offered out there.

I tend to agree that metalcloak has some gimmicky shit. I never bought into the 6 pack shocks, like stated above more seals to leak. I did buy into there joints though and have not been disappointed yet (fingers crossed) the one thing that JJs definitely has on the MCs is the ability to easily grease them. I sure wish MC had incorporated zerc fittings on their joints. For where I'm at now, I will run them till they break, and upgrade as needed.

I see, from your wave thread, that you purchased a Teraflex Performance Leveling Kit. No one will tell you not to run it. They may have told you not to buy it, but since you already have it, run it and see if you like it. The coils may ride a bit harsh, but personally, I haven’t heard of a Teraflex coil breaking. There are a lot of people running Teraflex here. You don’t have to feel like Wayalife looks down on you for it. Wayoflife and OverlanderJK have both run Teraflex, before.

I'm still running teraflex springs. I gave the shocks away. The two complaints I have is ... it made the jeep kinda ride like a dump truck and they started flattening out in under a year. I lost almost 1/2 inch of lift [emoji17]. Live and learn I guess. I will be switching springs soon I hope.

I’d go fox for sure, and google everything. My previous build (before I got the Jeep) I spent 3 years researching on suspension, axle swaps, Cummins and trans combos, etc etc. seriously man google everything, search everything on here. A lot of good people with good information are on here that are more than happy to help



My .02? Teraflex can go butt f*** an African hippo for all I care. Looks like a lot of cheap material being used to me

Yea, it was a birthday gift from the wife a year ago and is still in the original box. I just haven’t installed it yet, mostly due to cost of installation if someone else does it or lack of time/necessary tools if I were to do it. I also wanted to save for other upgrades and do several things at once.

No one has told me directly not to run it, although I recently read many negative things about teraflex as a whole. I did hear the coils ride fairly harsh too.

I welcome the advice, really, and appreciate the collective knowledge/skill most others have in regards to Jeep mods. I’m a novice in that regard...

Installing a lift is not hard. There are lots of write ups here, and at www.projectjk.com

You can do it with combination wrenches, a set of jack stands, wheel chocks, a torque wrench, and a bottle jack. Impact wrenches, and a 1/2” socket set, make it easier, but it can be done with a small amount of tools. All of Wayoflife’s write ups here, and at ProjectJK list what you’ll need. It’s actually not work, to me. It’s pretty fun, wrenching on your own Jeep. If you have a few hours, you can do it yourself, and buy the tools out of what you would have paid a shop in labor.

The long arms won’t do anything in the “flex” department. Perhaps you could explain how the AEV 2.5” kit falls short on the road? AEV suspension kits are usually quite good on the road? Your explanation might help us help you better. There are quite a few choices out there in the shock department. I wouldn’t plunk money down on the Teraflex Falcon shocks before digging a bit further on shock options.

I have to agree with you about the 6 pack shocks & I also agree on the CA joints they have. My JK w/ the 3.5” Game Changer w/ MC Rocksport
Shocks rides great. i will run this suspension until I start another build phase on this Jeep. I like it.

As for Teraflex, I remember they were one of the first lifts you could get for a TJ. It was their 3” lift with their flex arms. Yes, flex arms....oh they flexed sooooo much,(NOT!!!), that they would break off control arm mounts. Happened on my 1st TJ. Nope. Never again. I will not buy Teraflex suspension components ever again, and KNOW that there are better options... Do it once. Do it right.

I agree completely. I have the same lift and shocks, and am very happy with the ride on and off road. I have been known to do 90+ on the highway, and I'm not known for being gentile off road either. Servicing those joints is really my only gripe with it.
Funny you mentioned the TJ, because I tore my rear upper control arm mount off the frame in mine running Rough Country arms [emoji849]

With all of the douche-baggery aside; if I find out that the CT4 is not USA made.. its game over.. I have their TF D44 and it is made in the USA, so if their kits are not USA made I will be looking for other options..

Respectfully disagree. A 2.5” lift on a JKU does not require a long arm kit. You’re actually just fine with the factory arms and factory bushings which by the way are really good bushings.

This is total bullshit. We didn't notice a damn bit of difference after a 2.5 inch lift. And 'flex over rocks' isn't even a relevant argument to this entire thread.

To be fair, 2.5" should probably have adjustble UCA's at least. Even that little bit of change can screw with the pinion angle enough to get wobble issues, the JKs are more prone to it due to the UCA mounts being farther apart and therefore more parallel. While this geometry does actually make the rig ride better, it loses the mild "triangulation" of previous SFA Jeeps. Source of this was the lift company I worked for building their arms and installing.
