Awkward...

So what is this jeep wave? Is this the 2 fingers off the clutch motorcycle wave but for jeeps? Or is it the 4 finger wave that you give over the steeringwheel on base but for jeeps? I wave at anyone that waves at me, its called being courteous.

I didn't realize there were so many forms of the wave. I think the 2 finger off the top of the steering wheel is the most common. But who am I to be a wave specialist. I agree, courteous is the right reason but in this day and age being courteous seems to be a rarity. I prefer to be courteous.

There is also the Harley style doorless-arm-out-the-side wave, and the Topless/Sunrider wave-out-the-top wave.

Sometimes you get the wave from the right seat. Could be a mail-Jeep, but more often its the spouse/friend-wants-to-get-in-on-the-waving-action-wave or the I-let-my-friend-drive-cuz-I'm-hoping-he/she-buys-a-Jeep-and-they-don't-know-to-wave Wave

i just like it when i wave from my jeep, i always get the WTF?!? look back while going slow. it's like they never seen a guy with no hands drive a jeep. i love it

Today a liberty was across a stop sign from me. As we were bout to pass each other he shot up a wave. I quickly flipped on the p.a. and said "son, get a real jeep before you wave". I hope he heard me.

Not sure why any of that was necessary. He waved, you were rude.

Likewise.

Voodoo actual, I wave at most people who pass when I'm on the two lanes, but when I go into the city it's usually only jeeps I wave to cause everyone else is honking at me as they pass me. He was waving in the form of a jeep wave, and all though a liberty is made by jeep I feel wranglers are just the wavers. If he was just waving to be nice I would've smiled and waved right back.

That doesn't make any sense.

Returning the courtesy wouldn't of been any trouble and it would of been a lot less effort than berating an individual in the City. Nothing wrong with ignoring him either.

There are actual rules folks. Although this is a little dated now... http://jeeptalk.org/jeep_wave.php

If they wave, wave back, they are lots of comments on this and other forums where people wave when in their other vehicles out of habit. Might be wrong vehicle but still a jeeper. Hell I was one my way back from the store this morning and an elderly gentlemen was out for his morning walk. He stopped, looked up and threw his arm up. I of course waved back cause I am pretty damn sure he was a jeeper, most people here just throw up the middle finger.

I had the reverse happen today. I was driving home and not paying attention. Pretty sure I was changing the channel on the stereo and threw a two-finger wave to a hummer. :grayno:

That happened to me as well except I waved at a jeep just didn't noticed it was on like 24" dub rims until he passed me :( couldn't get my wave back though....

I threw a 2 finger wave up to a JK owner next to a Hummer H3 dude stopped at a traffic light.....they both reciprocated but the H3 dude gave me a 1 finger wave instead........jealousy I guess.....I just smiled

Really? What a douche lol. I would of made sure my window was down and told him: "If I wanted a Hummer, I would of called your sister!". Lmao

Don't follow me, I'm lost too! O|||||||O

I've probably met him through Tumbleweed Offroad if hes a part of that crew. We just PCS'd to Sill.

OMG...Ft Sill is the butthole of the earth....I was at Altus just down the road....what a giant hell hole that area is!

I waved at a jeep on my motorcycle and the dude just gave me the WTF look, it becomes habit I guess.

Unfortunately that kind of response would only escalate the situation......and down here in South Florida there are people who don't care to respect each other and would pull a gun and shoot you for next to nothing........sad to say but it's the reality of today's society especially in certain parts of the country.
