4.88s and 37s

Eddie are yall still happy with your decision to go 4.88 with 37s? Or do you wish you would have gone 5.13s?
I know it isn’t directed at me but I have been very happy with my 4.88 and 37 combo. Cruises really well down the highway and great in town. Haven’t hit the trails with it yet sadly but hope to soon

Good to know everyone is happy with the 4:88's as that is the direction I'm planning to go when I jump from the 35's. Still running the 4:10's for now but know they won't cut it with the 37s.

I’m surviving with 4.10’s but I haven’t had any big climbs. I definitely noticed the sluggishness in the dirt climbing up and down hills.

I’m waffling at the moment. Will be going to 37s. Live in flatland of Houston. But, it’s primary towing vehicle at the moment.
For towing, the higher ratio is nice but for regular driving, you will be on the high side of your RPM at highway speeds. Even with towing and in the mountains, I still prefer 4.88

In my 3.6L JL I put about 20K on the stock 4.10’s with 37’s, it’s doable and had I not known any better I probably wouldn’t have any complaints.

The 4.88’s and 37’s are nice, adds a lot more low end grunt. I noticed it more around town and on the trail than anywhere else but it does like to shift into 8th gear a lot more on the highway.

I thought the same as you with my JKU, IMO the 4.88 made for a better towing vehicle w/37's

On the JLU it did okay but I never saw eighth gear when towing, 4.88 brought it back more often than not.
Just towed a 4x8 enclosed trailer with probably more weight than it should have had, and doing the speed limit wasn't an issue; even across I-70 at 80 mph but I kept it at 70 (55mph on the trailer fender every time I check the rear view mirrors LOL).

On some of the steeper climbs I had to tap the gas to get it to shift otherwise it was getting too close to redlining and the check engine light would pop up
