Thanks, I will call the casino and book a room. Is there a designated time and place to meet? I'm not familiar with Carson City or the surrounding area. Will there be maps amd more info posted?

Hey everyone, I need to let you know that Roktoberfest 2016 has been suspended until further notice. I really do apologize for the trouble especially for those of you who have requested time off to make this event. I would like think there is a way to still do some kind of an event but one that includes rock crawling is most likely going to be impossible at this time. While we have the full support of the city and can still have a parade, Jeep show and party at the Firkin, getting permits to get everyone on the trail in an official capacity is proving to be a bit more difficult. I will post up more as soon as I get a chance.
 
If you're still doing a get together, I'm interested. If a trail works out, definitely interested in that as well.

I will keep watching this thread for further details.

Maybe it could be broken up into smaller groups on multiple trails that are outside of the Carson area. or is this a permit problem for holding a party that large?

What sucks is that we were thinking that we'd just be dealing with the city and they are big supporters of this event idea. I didn't realize there were other bureaucracies that we'd have to deal with to do this properly and legitimately.

It's not a matter of group size, it's a matter of conducting an organized event. That requires a host of things to happen in order to get a permit. While we had the backing of the city to help jump over every hurdle, there simply is no process currently available to get a permit to use the Prison Hill area.
 
You know, along those lines, would any of you still be interested in doing some kind of glorified meet-n-greet up here? I think there's a possibility of still doing some kind of FirkinFest where we take over parking lot and plaza next to the Firkin and have a party there. As far as what you guys do during your time up here, well, Cindy and I can not lead any of you on a run but there are tons of trails in the area that you can check out and explore. We simply couldn't sanction or endorse any kind of official or organized run.

So a bunch of folks could just happen to show up at the same place unexpectedly and follow each other around unorganized? Unofficially of course

At this point and time, the only thing Cindy and I are proposing to do is encourage an event a the Firkin & Fox. This is a great restaurant and bar located in a historic building in downtown Carson City and is owned by our very own H20JNKY here on WAYALIFE. There were always plans to have a FirkinFest there and for those who are willing to make there way up here, we'd love to have you join us for the fun.

Eddie- I am sure you probably covered this already but since i do have those 4 days off and some company to ride up there with me i would love to come out grab some beers with Cindy and yourself and hang out for a couple days do some explore runs or just meet up for dinner. If anything official comes out of that let me know otherwise i may just show up on your door step unannounced..haha

LOL!! Nice try but you just announced that you'd be coming up so HA!

That'd be great if you're still willing to come up and party with us even if that means we won't be able to do any wheeling here in Carson City.
 
bummer, but hopefully it'll all get worked out in good time and happen. I would for sure be down for a meet and greet, would be great to see a bunch of people and hang out- as long as i can get away from work!

Wheelin i can do anytime but getting together with good people seems to be harder and harder. We will be seeing you soon.

Me making it out to one of the events is definitely a given. And will be either or to moab or the rubicon trail next summer if all goes well. Wanting to spend time with my daughter as I have not seen her in a while due to not being married to her mom any more and not living in that state. Add to it how jobs have went for me and yeah wasnt good so looking to make up for that and hoping to be able to take her on some great adventures.
