Bottle Jack

While most cheap ones do, mine, the one you see in the JLX vidoes does not.

I started shopping for bottle jacks after watching the JLX videos... Was browsing around in Summit Racing & one of the bottle jacks they had on display had leaked all over everything. I laughed & thought of how you keep yours in a duffle bag & how lucky you are to get one that doesn't leak.

This above is an air jack and I looked at this since I have a dual compressor onboard. I personally will stick to the standard bottle jack. Not a fan of the scissor and the last Jeep had a bottle jack.

Has anyone tried one of these ? I like the design but wondered how they would hold up.

I have one and I use it in my garage as well as pack it in the Jeep when I go wheeling. There is a bolt that needs tightening every once in a while that keeps the base of the jack attached to the base of the jack stand. You can also find them at Tractor Supply if you’re lucky. I’ve had mine for well over 3 years and have used it to assist in the install of 4 sets of axles, countless tire rotations, brake pad replacements, axle shaft swaps and still forget to reset the safety latch that will catch if the bottle jack were to fail. The only issue I’ve ran into, and I think you will run into it with any other jack, is if you lose all the air in 40/13.5/R17 on a flat surface you will only be able to set the jack underneath the axle tube at its lowest setting and won’t be able to go high enough to fit the spare 40”; you will need to set something else under the axle and then lower the jack, raise the extension and then jack high enough to get the 40 in

You could keep it there. When your jeep is fully involved with flames the heat from the fire might make it go off. Would be another cool explosion.

You don’t put your toilet paper in the kitchen do you? No, you put it where you need it to wipe your ass

Godammit - I just spit my Kimchi on my computer screen :cheesy:

I bought a bottle jack from Lowe’s which came with a plastic case, I’m glad for the reason of possible leaks!

I can’t say much about the quality of the safe jack as I haven’t used it yet but they do have excellent customer service. 2 days before going on a road trip I checked and noticed they forgot to send me a part of the set (I should have checked sooner). Emailed them about the missing piece and they overnighted it to me so that I had it for the trip.

Eddie, do you remember where you bought yours and what size it is?

I bought mine at a Napa Auto Parts store some 20 years ago or more. It's a 12 ton jack but I don't think they sell it anymore. Sucks too because now that I see everyone with leakly jacks, I would totally get another if I could just to have on hand.

That's a little personal don't you think...haha.

Wish I could go back 20 years! Of course, then I would be a little kid and not have money or need for a bottle jack lol

I thought the Torin jack I bought wasn’t leaking, and maybe it wasn’t, at first. It is now.

I know this is an old thread :geek:
...but I recently got my bottle jack (from a wrecked MB sprinter) and I was wondering where do you guys carry it in your Wrangler? I was thinking under the rear seats in a well secured bag... but I am open for suggestions
