...to, Escanaba, Michigan.
Went northward to take a DNR ORV safety instructor certification course.
Michigan DNR offers the course 2x year to about 20 folks per. Of about 4,000 certified instructors across all disciplines (Marine, Hunting, Snowmobile, and ORV), there are only about 400 for ORV. I passed on the one earlier this year, about 2.5 hr drive from home. Opting instead to trek to the Upper Peninsula. I don't get to go that far north very often and this was a perfect excuse.
900 miles round trip, 4 days. Rode a bunch of different UTVs, ATVs, ORVs, and time talking about winching. Had a great time.
And, took a couple pictures.
This was about 30 minutes after sunrise. Orange as could be.
The 'Mighty Mac' The Mackinac Bridge often has just its spires captured as the primary part of a photo. Thought I'd catch one that caught more of the entire expanse, about 5.8 miles worth. At the left-most end in the pic, it's probably another half-mile to shore. Debated cutting out ground clutter, but it helps give a sense of scale. Cannot help but wonder if the people that build it over 60 years ago expected it would still be going strong so many years later. After all, it seems we have a hard time building bridges that last more than 25 any more
