Debbie and I took the long way from Enumclaw, WA on FS-70, up to Government Medows, up to the Naches Trail, then around the back side of the mountains, and around down to Whistling Jacks. From there we headed back up to Chinook pass and back into Enumclaw. Excellent day for a road trip. FYI, signs said the Naches wagon trail is opening up on July 15.

For what it's worth, an unopened potato chip bag will not survive a 5000 foot elevation change without bursting. :)
Here's a couple pics from the trip. More on our facebook page linked to in my signature.

Between the two pictures, the first is on the west side of a mountain at 6000' and gets full sun. The other picture is Chinook pass and is in the shade most of the time at 5000'. That pass just opened a month ago and gets about 15' of snow in the winter. Later in the year that same place is famous for viewing wild flowers. Lots of high elevation meadows that get blanketed in color. Awesome site.

After 40 years of living here, I still never get tired of what we get to see, and we still discover new places.

Back home to Ouray area

We made our yearly pilgrimage from North Texas to my folks land outside of Ouray. We hit up Brown Gulch, Engineer, Yankee Boy, Imogene, Black Bear and a few others. Also my fiance and I climbed our first 14er, Mt. Sneffels. A lot harder than jeepin... damn.
