What are they for?

I have noticed that some you guys have what looks like some black trim beside the rubber bonnet catches.
They look to be about nine inches by two inches, what are they for?

Bonnet is another proper term for the hood. But I still don't know what the OP is referring to something that is a 9"x2" piece of trim next to what I believe would be the hood latches :thinking:

Paltry is talking about the hood latches, but not sure the trim he is ref. unless it is the vents in an AEV hood

It was on the tip of my tongue.... I just couldn't think of it.... Like the trunk is a "boot" thanks for clearing that up for me

They are actually mesh screen/grills, same thing on the top center of the hood. It is to help evacuate the under-hood heat.
