TPMS after Rotating Tires

Apparently when this is performed by a shop, they reprogram each sensor after rotating. This allows the system to know which tire is low.

Cozdude, based on reading, still not sure it's a different frequency for each sensor. I think each is at 433MHz or whatnot. That wouldn't be adjustable by the shop. The sensor does send other information besides just pressure though, and I think they change that with each rotation.

When I say different frequency I mean that they are, for example, 467.678, 467.677, etc

The older systems required you to program where each tyre was on the car with the unique ID. the newer systems can work it out based on signal strength and antenna locations. I'm not 100% on the details of the JK system but I've swapped full wheel sets without programming anything and the system still worked fine.

There are 3 sensors in the JK, one at each front wheel and one at the driver's rear. This is why a 5 wheel rotation takes so long to register, it has to figure out what sensors are at the rear according to signal strength.

I just rotated my five tires this weekend. Prior to rotation all of mine were set to 32 psi. After rotating I'm getting all different numbers from 42 down to 35. I've driven approx. 75 miles since then.

The spare does have a different TPMS sensor in it and can throw a code if one of the normal road tires is at the spare location. Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE mobile app

Never has on mine and I rotate (with the spare) every 5,000 (currently on the backside of 130,000 and 40,000. That's more than 30 rotations, and I have had to replace my TPMS sensors twice, all 5 coming out the first time were the same and were replaced with 5 units identical to each other. Not saying it isn't so, mine may have been mutants from the factory.

My F-150 is this way, my JKs are not
 
Check out my post titled Tpms in this same forum. In post 10, I describe how my issue was resolved. This applies to JKs with the connectivity option. In my case the "reader" was bad. However there are other electronic devices that can interfere. If so equipped, you might try turning them all off, and if the tpms then works, sequentially turn them back on to find the culprit.
