So this happened Yesterday! Dynatrac Trail leader package! BUMMER it was Made Wrong

Damn, just started to catch up on things. Hope you're able to get things figured out quickly. Sure would like to know what the issue is.

They are having me send the shafts back so they can just cut them down. Makes me a little scared that my housing is screwed up and in the future if I need a shaft will be screwed or have to buy then always pay to cut them down.

Did they ask you to measure the tube lengths? I'd be happy to measure mine when I get home to compare.

That doesn't seem right. Can you double check the housing to see if it's that? You paid for something I'd want to know I got what I paid for not something that will require "custom" axle shafts. Think of a trail break.

Edit: I'd try putting my stock shafts in and see what happens.

So, the housing was made wrong and their answer to their mistake is to have you send back your shafts so that they can cut them to a shorter length? Really?? I don't know, if that's true, that sounds like BS to me and if anything, I would think that they should be sending you new shafts ASAP and then have you ship back what you have now in the boxes that they come in. It's their mistake and they should be working harder to make it right.
 
That’s crazy. I agree with Eddie, why the hell won’t they at least send you a new set to keep you moving. For a company that once prided itself for going out of their way for their clients, they are really falling short. So sad.

Wtf?!?! That blows! I’m ready to pull the trigger on my front axle and with the weirdness going on lately with Dynatrac I am getting more and more worried about sending them my money.

Seriously if the housing IS indeed built wrong, they should be shipping you out a new one like YESTERDAY. I sure as hell wouldn't settle for cutting shafts if the housing isn't right. Isn't there some half-naked blonde chick's axle hanging around the shop that they could just send to you?

Not sure what the fuck is going on over there, but it seems like right about the time the JL came out, Dynatrac has completely changed how they do things.

"The company had very humble beginnings. A man with a need and a drive to offer something better than what was available.
After a few years of breaking and repairing the factory Dana 44 front axle in his 1979 Ford F-250, Jim McGean began the search for a heavy-duty Dana 60 axle assembly that he could bolt-into his truck. The oil embargo of the 1970s made fuel expensive and the larger, less-fuel-efficient trucks that came with these axles were few and far between. McGean turned to the aftermarket. What he found was that of the existing aftermarket axle manufacturers specialized in assembling rearends, and they typically did so with junkyard components. He was also surprised at the unwillingness and inability of these companies to answer questions about his project, as well as the poor overall customer service he received. In the beginning, he simply did this to help offset the costs of the expensive equipment he had invested in to make his own.

In November of 1988, Dynatrac became an official business open to the public. McGean specialized in building front axle assemblies, something the other aftermarket axle manufacturers had not yet fully embraced. McGean ran Dynatrac ads in several local publications, and by 1991 Dynatrac placed its first ad in Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine. Late in 1992, Dynatrac moved out of McGean’s small garage and into a portion of a friend’s machine shop. Dynatrac absorbed all of McGean’s free time. He would wake up at 2am, just to build axles for a few hours every day, then head home to clean up before making way to his day job that was still paying the bills. At the end of the day he returned customer phone calls. His commitment to Dynatrac quality and customer service was just as deep as his commitment to making Dynatrac succeed, maintaining the mantra he still upholds today: Provide customers with the best information available, regardless of what products Dynatrac offers. By 1994, ten years after building his first axle, McGean was able to make Dynatrac his full-time day job, but it was still a one man show.

I love hearing and reading stories like that about guys solving problems and creating successful companies like they did. I’ve also seen and experienced companies that have grown exponentially only to loose sight of what got them to where they are at, taking care of people. Hope they make a course correction.

Seems really weird. Is it possible that they just sent the wrong length shafts with the axel? Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with the details.
 
Wow, for the most expensive dana 44 on the market you shouldn’t be running custom length shafts. Looks like I got my pr44 perfect timing. Yikes.
