Agreed. New and old don't mix.
I like the gun but unless that dumbass rail isn't removable it's a hard no for me - I'd never buy one and I'm a S&W fanboy

I think next one is a 44 mag. I have an old Marlin 336 30-30 I picked up when I was 11 and just picked up a new Marlin 1894 in 45-70.What caliber are you looking at?
How do you like the Ruger/Marlin 45-70? That’s on my shortlist.I think next one is a 44 mag. I have an old Marlin 336 30-30 I picked up when I was 11 and just picked up a new Marlin 1894 in 45-70.
I’m a sucker for these lever guns so I’m pretty biased but I’m impressed with it. Action is tight and no slop. Quality/fit & finish is on par with the older Marlins. Not many rounds through it yet but I love it so far. Going to be 60 here this weekend so I may just take it to the range. How do you like the Ruger/Marlin 45-70? That’s on my shortlist.
I don't hunt anymore but I've wanted one for a long time because I like how they look.I’m a sucker for these lever guns so I’m pretty biased but I’m impressed with it. Action is tight and no slop.
