Rear Locker Actuator Plug

Since I'm a newbie! Can one just replace the rear actuator plug from the outside. Or, does one have to take off diff cover. Just looking for some insight. Looks like dealer broke the locking part on the plug. Now I have to replace it. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

On the JL you can remove the plug assembly from the outside and pull the internal wires out enough to disconnect the inner plug as well but its not supper long so if pulls back inside, you'll most likely have to pull the cover to reconnect.
