Jeep jku roof rack?

Caught the Bug
I know it has probably been asked before but, I'm trying to find a roof rack for my jku that would still allow me to easily open my sunrider for hardtops. So far the only one I have found is the smittybilt defender rack but I am a little nervous about a rack that mounts to the rain gutters. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I haven't heard anything bad about Gobi roof racks except for wind noise but you'll get that with just about all racks.

I've got the Frontrunner Outfitters Slimline II Halfrack on mine. Solid, quiet, and no complaints

I think you'll have to go with something that only covers the rear then. Don't think anything like the Gobi would work with that.

Here's my front runner load bars track rack. It's adjustable front to back. I just looked on their website and they don't offer this anymore for a jku. But they do have a bunch that are very similar, so maybe give them a call and see if they can help you out. I think they're so-cal based.

Don't know if they sell them in the US byt have a look at the rhino rack backbone system. There is both a long and short version and it has an internal frame to transfer the load back to the tub.

Would the teraflex nebo rack work.

I just bought the same top, and have a billet silver JKU. I have not installed it yet. Do you have any pictures with it closed?

Yes I do and I thought teraflex only breaks if installed incorrectly XD

I guess I need to get measurements. I was hoping I would get ideas at the Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion but for some reason I had ADD lol.

Depends on what you need to carry. If you plan to have a couple hundred pounds you'll need a bigger rack like the front runner or gobi. If your just carrying a small kayak, I'd just use foam blocks or gutter mounted Thule or Yakima bars. I've had my Gobi rack now 5 years, been happy, but it does slow down the process of taking the top off. You can easily take off the hard top front panels though.
