Since a couple of month, some of you knows, that I had some kind of problems with my jk. Cought a lemon I guess.. 2012 2 door sport, 6 speed manual.

it started with a weird crack from the rear, drivetrain maybe? then a spring sound when I press/depress the clutch followed by a rolling bearing sound when the clutch is fully pressed escorted by a weird clok-clok when the throw-out bearing moves.

Then fall arrived and no fuckin heat on driver side, got heater core replaced, they found nothing in the coolant. It fixed the problem but this week I found casting sand in my overflow tink, so monday they're gonna do a chemical flush.

I also have a CEL with code P0116 ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE. When CEL light up, the cooling fan starts WOT and temperature gauge falls to cold. Then I turn the key off and back on, and it comes back to normal but CEL stays on. It is intermittent. It seems that CEL turns off when outside temp. is above -20 celsius approx. They replaced the ECT sensor, guessing it was the problem. Without even doing a complete diag. I guess. But it didn't make it. The CEL turned on again the next day.

All this together with the fact that I might have moved too fast when I bought mine, the fact that I'm tired of driving manual... makes me think that I would like to make a move for a 2013 JKUR, automatic, sometimes in the next year. I know I would lose big money, we talk about 10 to 12 000$ between what they could give me at the dealer for my 2012 and what's left to pay on my loan.

I thought about this in the last couple days, and would have couple options.

#1 ; get the money to start all over again, pay the 10 000$ difference, and give my 2012 to the dealer and get a 2013 jkur.

#2 ; Pay mine off, then sell it or give it in exchange to the dealer, which would give me about half of the price of the jkur. So it would cost me about 50% less. ie : if I sell it 20 000$ next year, and the jkur cost 42 000$. With 20 000 cash down it drops to 22 000$ loan.

Option #2 is my best bet I guess.

What I would like to get is :

2013 Dozer JKUR
automatic trans.
black leather heated seats
430N radio with nav.
remote start
and maybe half doors
soft top only.

What would you guys do?

1- its expensive to be cheap
2- its only money and you can’t take it with you
3- life is short, do what makes you happy.

That being said, cut your losses and get the Jeep you truly want.

Not much worse than constantly worrying about something. These things are too much fun and that would zap the fun right out of it. If you can do it, I'd go with a new one. :thumb:

I would say get a new one and I am sure the dealership can help you out. Also maybe look for a 2012. If they still have them around on the lots you would be able to get it cheaper then the brand new '13.

Also make sure you can afford the jump in monthly cost for the next 5 or 6 years.

I would prefer a 2013 as they have nicer seats, dual windshield nozzles and few other fun details :D

They don't have much jeeps in the yard here, and rarely rubicon's.

And If we talk about price, it would costs me only about 100 to 120$ more per month, it's no so bad. I can afford that.

I don't know. Will the dealership help you out? have you tried calling Chrysler? Contact a representative and give them a list of all the problems. I know it's a long shot. Check out or google if anybody has made any complaints about same problems. It might help your case. We have a 98 Honda Civic that at around 48,000 the tranny went out. Took it in and they said it would cost around $2500 to fix. I told them to put it back together and roll it out. We were not paying for that or would ever purchase one on their cars again. My wife found some info on the internet about several people hving same issues. We presented it to them and it only cost us @ $250 for a new trannny and warranty as well. There are "hidden recalls" out their for all vehicles. I would hate to see you loose more money. Sometimes it is easier to cut your loses, but it does not hurt to try get aleast a little compensation back from your troubles. Hope this helps and good luck on the solution.

Well I agree with some of that quote.
It's only money you can't take it with you, but you still need it while you are on this planet. Unless you are financially secure. Nothing wrong with making it stretch until then. At least you can take your memories.
Life is short do what makes you happy. I agree having to deal with a few setbacks and experiences in my life. Don't jump the gun and really think about it before you do.

thanks for the comments guys. I try to figure every options I have before I make the move. This is exactly what I wanted at the start, but I decided to go with the cheapest option instead of what I wanted

the two best options are either I pay it off, then sell it for a cash down, or I wait and pay to drop the loan equal with the price I can get and sell it for what remains on the loan.

Well maybe you can recoup some of the money and return it back to stock, because it you do decide to trade it in the stealership will not give you any more for the extras.

Well, all of my current mod can be transfered, and will be! I would put on my 2 door both bumpers, 4 fenders, 5 mags and tires from the new rubicon.

How far upside down on it are you? If not too much they may work with you.

well I own it for 10 months now, so my loan capital is around 30 000$, if they take it back they wouldn't give me more than 18-20 000$ for sure, or even less! That's why I would have to wait.
