.gov lubing up once again

I’m really fired up on the real estate taxes and costs front right now. My local communist Travis county appraisal district just upped the land valuation on my home and an adjacent property $310K and $302K respectively. There is literally nothing to justify this extortion in our area. But they get to set it and I have to fight it down. Plus the real beauty of it is our taxing valuations always go up, yet the rate rarely to never drops.

if they want to write me a check for my home at their “valuation”, I’ll give them the damned keys today.

This effectively ends up being a tax, that was not passed by Congress. Unconstitutional and the courts will shit all over it, rightfully so.

Slowly? They just make you look the other way and slam it home. The wife and I are planning to buy our first home next year and we have been working on our credit and debt/income ratio for years and now we have this crap to look forward to. 🤦‍♂️
They don't lube it up, they stick it in dry and cold!
We are far from a Socialist country… but pretty sure we are more clearly seeing the beginning changes happening... I just pray it fails.

And for those who say I'm full of shit read their own words on their website

Welcome to the new Texas. 😡

After the 2008 fiasco, local governments all over are jacking up property value estimates all over the state and paying themselves well (30% raises for city employees here in Dallas). Most people think that they are just unlucky to live in a popular area and that the problem is due to people moving in from California. I have done substantial analysis of this, and while people are indeed moving in, home prices and tax evaluations are jacked up everywhere in the state. Even small towns in West Texas now have jacked up valuations.

There is really no way to go besides out, so that is what we are doing. Besides, several western states offer vastly more access to scenic beauty and the outdoors than most of Texas does.

Texas was a special place that we are ruining really quickly. My dream has been to own a ranch in Texas for my kids and grand kids to enjoy play on. But that dream shifts more and more to other states.
