E-Brakes Shot / Failed inspection

I use my e-brake a lot and I've definitely pulled away a few times with it still sorta engaged. Well, I failed my state inspection this am because it wasn't grabbing. Anybody ever had to adjust theirs? Can I just use some basic internet guidance or is there anything weird about the setup?

You should be able to make an adjustment to the star wheel through the back of the brake but I'm gonna bet that your shoes are still fine and that you just need to make a lever adjustment. See video from here:

And just tighten the nut 2-4 turns.

I think he didn’t feel like doing it so they came up with some bullshit, but it definitely needs an adjustment.

After adjusting the shoes, pump the brake handle up & down a few times while holding the thumb button down until you feel it tighten up. Do this again right before turning your Jeep over to the inspector and leave the handle in the up position.

It’s a requirement in the state of PA for the e brake to work. Part of the safety inspection.

I would assume that’s the case in all states just depends whether they have an inspection or test.

well, those instructions worked like a charm! Mine took more like 4-5 turns, but she holds on an incline now at the last click. Thanks again @wayalife!
