Cut Fender Thread

Reviving this thread. My fenders are faded as shit and no fender trim product works anymore. Need this for idea on how to cut my new used fenders next time.

Need to decide to either stick with the “moby cut” or change it up.

Here are mine. I cut the inner in a slight angle then gorilla glue the shit out of them after I blew them off hitting a puddle. Been good since then.

I use Maguires Ultimate black plastic restore every once in a while to bring the black back.

I took a palm sander and 120 grit and rounded the corners smooth instead of trim.

Hope this help.

I used some 1/4” wide painters tape to “design” my cuts. The fronts do flop at highway speed but not noisy or concerning to me.

I like the rounded look you did. [emoji106] Those came out really good.

I used some 3M double sided tape on mine and it stopped the flopping.

Thanks! I’ve thought about the tape but it hasn’t been a problem that’s bothered me enough yet. Yet! [emoji23]

After I trimmed, and "tubed" them haha, I painted them with a cheap bedliner paint with a roller. Haven't gotten to scratch them against anything yet though. I was able to get a set from a Sahara and scuff them up. Not going to say they look great, but not bad. Will have to take some pictures and post.

Pics for ya.

Pretty sure my fender trim is just like yours. New Jeep owners ask all the time, what kind of fenders do you have.

When I first saw the thread title, I thought “oh no, someone is cutting up Fender guitars”...

Even the pop up ads on my phone show Fenders guitars on this thread...

May not be for everyone... but I only removed about 1 3/8” of material from the fenders... I even cut the turn signal light... gives it more of a stock look.

Those don't look bad at all. What did you use for the tubing?

3/4" pvc pipe. I bent it with a heat gun. Left the flares on the jeep when doing so. That helped me get them close the original shape of the flare. I cut a slot in the pipe after it was bent to slip over the flare and used white paintable silicone as adhesive. Happened to have a dremel bit the correct size.

That's really creative. Looks pretty good.
