Best EVO tire carrier write up

Ok, I was hoping there might be enough room between the bottom of the jeep light cut out and the top of the skin cut out so I could skip the part altogether. So, if I understand what you are saying that hole allows you to get your hand inside the body to mount the brackets?

you will want to cut some. it's easier to mess with the wiring and get the skins to sit more flush. plus, you can reduce some sharp edges.

Sorry to bump an old thread . Can anyone who wired up these Maxxima lights with reverse light explain quickly how to wire up to the Jeep?

Is this red connector needed for each plug ?

Do I splice the red, black, and white wires together into 3 wires ?

Is a maxxima resistor required ? Have a link ?

Thanks in advance 62554074634__E4206B3C-C222-4BC3-B94D-1A5035AE2C49.jpg

Are you sure they're not made to daisy chain together? If so you wouldn't need to splice them together, just leave one of the connectors unplugged.

Well its been awhile ago since I did mine and can't remember exactly but... 🤦*♂️
I know I was nervous about cutting and splicing so I bought the Poison Spyder tail light harnesses. They were like $130 but if I remember correctly it was plug and play.

Hmm that is really helpful.

I sort of figured out the wiring... this is what I found:

Brake lights :
JK's Purple/White (+) = Running Light Power
JK's Black (-) = Ground
JK's Yellow/White (+) = Turn Signal/Brake Power

Reverse lights :
JK's Green/White (+) = Reverse Power
JK's Black (-) = Ground

Top pigtail-
White- ground
Red- reverse ---> green/white

Bottom pigtail-
White- ground
Red- stop/turn --- yellow/white
Black- tail light --- purple / white

However, it doesn't explain the resistor.

I grabbed a photo of the PS wiring harness... seems like it wouldn't be quite plug and play for the Maxxima lights because while it does have 1 3 plug connector that would be plug and play, the other one turns into 2 connectors which won't match the other 3 plug..

The resister goes on the turn signal wire.

My harness is on the jeep so I can't tell 100% on colors but:

Jeep side
Black - ground
White/green - reverse
White/purple - stop/turn
White - taillight

Light side(per my picture)
White - ground
Black - taillight
Red - stop/turn

Resistor goes on the turn signal and the ground. The second plug with two wires will be for the reverse lights. As you can see in the last picture, I had to split the ground for the taillights and reverse lights so I have a white/green and a black hanging loose. I have the trucklites so no reverse built in. I ran those two to my reverse lights. Hope this helps.

Edit: MAKE SURE YOU SECURE THE RESISTOR UP AWAY FROM THE WIRES. It will get hot, melt all the wires, and ruin all of your work.

Thanks for the pointers y’all . This is finally done . Overall really pleased with the carrier and the skins . Now gonna figure out how to mount some rotopax

Get the one like I have that straps to the tire.

I ordered up the dual rotopax mount and the kC mounts like on eddies write up . Think it’s same setup Jim and Greer are using . The tire straps could be additional if I need to carry more than 4 gallons
